In case you missed it...
The following message was shared via ParentSquare on April 14th. It was been edited to reflect a few updates.
Dear Penngrove Families,
I hope you’re all having a great week back to the school routine after our long spring break! The ice cream social was so awesome last night, wasn’t it? It was incredible to see so many of you on campus. My heart was bursting with joy by the end of the evening!
Speaking of my heart, as you likely know, my heart and soul beats for this Penngrove community. Working at 365 Adobe Road for the past decade has brought an immense amount of joy and personal satisfaction to my life, as well as that of my entire family. When I was hired as a 29 year old principal, fresh out of my 2nd grade classroom, I knew Penngrove was the perfect place for me to join a community like yours. That “yours” quickly became “ours”. Together, we have created an astounding elementary school community. I credit the world class Team Penn for making dreams come true each day for our students. They are the hardest working, most dedicated, thoughtful and fun staff I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Penngrove School would not be what it is today without strong partnerships with our parent community, the Friends of Penngrove PTA, and local community supporters. I hold a special place in my heart for each of you and what you have given to our school community. We have something special.
Not only do I love Penngrove Elementary, but I also believe in the excellent work the Petaluma City School District is doing. After a decade serving as the principal of Penngrove, it is time for me to transition into a different role while still serving the students, staff, and families of PCS. Beginning on July 1, 2022, I will assume the role of Communications Coordinator for our district where I will put everything I’ve learned here at 365 Adobe Road to good use. I am thrilled this position will allow me the opportunity to support our 17 school sites and various district departments as we continue to cultivate a district where all student scholars can thrive.
Over the next couple of months, I will be focusing on soaking up as much student time as possible and supporting our staff as we finish the 2021-22 school year, staying true to our 2021-22 theme: Shine Bright. I am passionately committed to ensuring that your next principal has everything he/she needs for a successful leadership transition. Yesterday, our Superintendent, Matthew Harris, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Jason Sutter, met with the Penngrove staff to develop a plan for hiring your next principal. There will also be two parents on the hiring committee. If you have any comments you would like to share with our parent representatives, please email PTA President, Melissa Morelli, at friendsofpenngrovepta@gmail.com.
Over the years I have developed close working relationships with so many of you. If it was possible, I’d share this news with each of you over a cup of coffee or at least a personal call/text. I will forever carry the lessons I’ve learned and memories I’ve made with the #pennpanthers at the core of all I do. It has been an honor to grow with your children and serve this community.
All my love,
Amy

Also, thanks to our amazing PTA, every student on campus will be taking home a book from our fair this year. We are so grateful and excited for our students!
