SUPER SAV SAVES THE DAY - HSA 1 Lt Oakley 0
Ryan Geoghegans first goal of the season secured HSA a vital three points in a very close encounter. The home team got off to a dream start when Captain Jon Welsh delivered an excellent whipped free kick into the area, Lt Oakley failed to clear their lines and Geoghegan lashed home from 12 yards. HSA generally had the better of the first half with Ant Fernandez having an effort cleared off the line and Good in the Oakley goal denying Craig Cutts when the striker was through one on one. Shortly before the interval Oakley came to life with the dangerous Ward-Cochrane forcing Liam Savage into two good saves. In the final action of the half HSA nearly extended the lead as Micheal Austin rose highest to meet a Harry Halls corner, the centre half was denied a first goal for the club as the ball hit the corner or post and bar and rebounded to safety.
The second half started with the visitors on the attack, Lewis hitting the post with Savage stranded. This set the scene for the remainder of the half with Oakley dominating possession and HSA having to play on the counter attack. Oakley hit the post again in the 66th minute when after some desperate defending the ball fell to an Oakley midfielder who missed the target with the goal at his mercy. With fifteen minutes to go tempers started to fray when Savage reacted to a late challenge by Oakleys young substitute. With the crowd awaiting the Referees decision he sensibly issued a yellow card each. The remainder of the match was played out in stop start fashion with Oakley looking dangerous, especially from set pieces and HSA producing a resolute backs to the wall defensive performance. In the 7th of the 9 additional minutes played HSA could have scored a second as they caught Oakley on the break, Ollie Bell rounded a couple of defenders before being denied by Good who then reacted superbly to deny Owen Longley's follow up.
