A Note From our PTO President, Karen Finke
Hello Robison families. We are excited for our first big event of the school year, our Boosterthon Fun Run! The Fun Run will be held on October 19, and we hope many of you are able to come out and volunteer to help and cheer on your Rocket as they run laps to benefit our school! Look for information soon on how to get involved in this very fun day for our students. Every Robison student gets to participate in the Fun Run and gets a t-shirt! The run times for each grade level are found in this newsletter.
I encourage you all to check the important dates section of the newsletter for a 2 month outlook for events. I hope you have had the opportunity to get registered into our MySchoolAnywhere (MSA) PTO communication system. In addition to being able to shop in our online PTO store, you will be able to volunteer through our online signups! It is a great convenience and all it takes is a few minutes to register and create an account. And, once you have an account, you can download the MyScoolAnywhere app to your mobile device for added convenience.Don’t forget to update your student name and homeroom teacher name so we can accurately deliver ordered items to your child to take home. And, being registered into our system means you are in the loop for communications sent through MSA.
This link takes you to our online PTO Store: https://www.myschoolanywhere.com/cart-new.a5w?cart=RobisonElementary14450

Boosterthon Fun Run
Parents! One of our two primary fundraisers for the 2017-18 school year is the Rockets Fun Run! It’s a 9-day program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on October 10. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on October 19. We have big goals this year, so we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, CASTLE QUEST! an English castle theme all about being brave and living with character. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters.
Donations will benefit the Robison PTO and contribute to our quest to enrich the school experience for all Robison students. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!
Fun Run Times:
K/1 - 9 am
2/3 - 10 am
AM Pre-K/PPCD - 11am
PM Pre-K/PPCD - 1:30pm

A volunteer request will be sent out via My School Anywhere. We'll need plenty of volunteers to help serve water to the runners as well as to mark laps ran on the student shirts. This is a really fun event, and we are counting on YOU to make it the huge success it's been in previous years.

Science Resource Center
We are so fortunate in CFISD to have the Science Resource Center (SRC). They house many different animal groups and allow trained parent volunteers to present these animals and information to our kiddos in an up close and personal way! These programs enhance and enrich the Science programs with living examples.
Each grade level has assigned animal group presentations and parents must be trained before they can handle these animals. With the delay to the start of school, some of these trainings are coming up quickly. Below is listed the upcoming trainings and times. These sessions are held at the SRC (11206 Telge Road…From Hwy. 290 take the Telge Rd. exit. Turn north on Telge Rd. Approximately ¼ mile down the road you will come to the light for Arnold Middle School entrance. Immediately after the light, turn right into the first gate of the FFA rodeo grounds. At the end of that road, you will see the Science Resource Center). Please remember that trainings are Adults Only please. No registration is needed to attend a training session. If you have trained in the past for one of these animal groups, it is not necessary to retrain.
While the actual presentation dates are not set, we are getting our volunteers trained now so we can get these booked with the SRC as soon as possible.

Nature Trails
Our 3rd and 5th graders get to have a field trip to the Nature Trails facility offered by CFISD. 3rd graders learn about Simple Machines and 5th graders learn about animal and animal adaptations. Trained volunteers are needed to assist at this field trip. Training sessions are held at the Nature Trails site…13500 Shaft Drive, Cypress 77429…behind Millsap Elementary. This is an outdoor training in wooded areas, so dress appropriately and please note, training is Adults Only. If you have previously trained for both of these grade levels, it is not necessary to retrain. However, if you have been trained in only one of these grade levels, you must train for the other grade level.
Robison is scheduled to go to Nature Trails November 6 and 7. Half of the 3rd grade and 5th grade will go each day. Look for specific homeroom day assignments soon. If you have any questions, you may contact Karen Finke karenfinke@comcast.net
