What's Happening

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology

LMHS students who are enrolled at ECAT will begin on Thursday, September 9th. Students should board bus 98, by the tennis courts, at 7:20 am.

New Traffic Patterns at the High School

As you know from the recent construction project on the high school campus, the access road from Red Lion Road to the school campus was reoriented in preparation for the building of a new high school. With that reorientation comes new traffic patterns for which we need to be aware and make necessary adjustments. I understand that it make take additional time to navigate the areas around the school campus, but it is essential that we all follow safe driving practices. For the safety of our students, and to ease the traffic on the high school campus, I ask parents/guardians to follow these procedures:

Morning drop-off and Afternoon pick-up

  • Enter the school campus using the Red Lion Road access road and turn right into the pick-up/drop-off loop.
  • Please follow all signs and proceed across the front of the building to door 5 to drop off your student(s). Please do not stop in front of the Main Entrance.
  • Please do NOT drop-off or pick-up a student in the front parking lot area.
  • Please do NOT drop-off or pick up a student in the large main parking lot where staff and student drivers park as that could create a potentially dangerous situation.
  • Please do not drop-off or pick-up a student in or near the bus loop.
  • Administrators and/or a police officer are present to help direct vehicles, so please follow their instructions.
  • Leave plenty of time to safety navigate the school campus.

General News and Announcements

From the School Nurse

Hi Everyone and Welcome Back,

Just a friendly reminder: All 12th Grade Seniors need to have their second dose of the State Mandated Meningococcal vaccine by September 10, 2021.

If I have not received a document/immunization record from the PCP or an urgent center, your child will not be able to attend in person learning until I receive the immunization record.

Please note that we are not in the office this week due to the holiday; therefore please scan the required documents to me at lweidman@lmtsd.org. so that I can update your students' profile.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Lisa

Important Reminders of Daily Health and Safety

  • Maintain safe distancing at all times. Students should not congregate at any time.
  • Masks need to be worn at all times and cover from the bridge of the nose to under the chin. The only exceptions are while eating or while outside at the direction of a teacher.
  • Bus riders need to wear a mask at all times.
  • Use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of each class, and throughout the day follow hand-washing guidelines as needed.
  • Follow the directional arrows throughout the building

Attendance Protocol

All of your attendance reporting needs will be handled by one electronic form that will replace the Blue Card online form and the Yellow Card online form (used at Pine Road). This will also replace the need for a phone call to the attendance line.

  • Use this form to report your child’s absence. Submitting this form will both report the absence and document it. No follow up Blue card is needed.

  • Submit this form to sign your child into school late.

  • Submit this form to sign your child out for an appointment (early dismissal). This form allows you to enter a return to school time if your child will be returning to school.

Please Note:

If you are taking an extended vacation, you will still need to complete the Request for Excusal from Regular School Attendance, familiar to most families as a vacation request form. The form is found on the Virtual Backpack under Forms.

Doctors’ notes still need to be submitted to the school attendance secretary or sent into school.

Late Arrival/Early Release

We are doing the late arrival/early release program for this school year again. For more information on the requirements and expectations of this privilege, please see the link to the application. A student cannot begin the late arrival or early dismissal until the application is approved by Mr. Miles.

School Counseling Department

On Wednesday, October 13, Lower Moreland students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will be taking either the PSAT 8/9 or the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test).

This will be a half-day. Students will be dismissed after testing. Buses will begin transporting students home from the high school at 10:55 a.m. that morning. Students approved for extended time will dismiss between 1:00—1:30 pm.

The cost of the test is $18.00. All payments are to be paid online on at www.myschoolbucks.com.

For all:

If ever needed, here is the link to the Emergency / Crisis Resources that are listed on our counseling website.

The High School Counselors have begun to utilize REMIND an app-based communication platform that creates and sends one-way messages in real time to an entire class, a small group, or just a single person.

We are excited to launch this new technology to our students and a parent within the household. Information about how to register will be mailed shortly.
