Mesa Middle School
Principal Message
Dear Mesa Families,
We hope all is well and that you had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends over Thanksgiving Break. During the month of November, our Mesa students participated in a number of fundraiser events to support those in need. I have been so impressed with how thoughtful and giving our students are. We also wanted to thank all of the parents/ guardians who visited on Parent/Guardian Visitation Day, we appreciate your support.
In addition, I wanted to reshare information included in my last communication:
The Colorado Department of Education released the Preliminary 2019 School Performance Framework (SPF) to school districts. These ratings are intended to hold districts and schools accountable for performance on the same single set of academic achievement and growth indicators and measures.
Mesa Middle School will be on a Performance Plan for the 2019-2020 school year (the highest rating possible). To be identified as a Performance school the overall SPF needs to be at or above 53.0. Mesa's score was at 71.0. While we recognize there are various opinions and views regarding state testing we thank everyone for their support around this rating.
We believe that Mesa is an amazing school and we look to create an environment where students feel safe and cared for, and as a result, can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition, we have a supportive community where parents/guardians recognize the positive school experience their students receive at Mesa Middle School.
The month of December will be a busy place at Mesa with a number of performances and events, we hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Tony Jackowski
Principal
Change Maker's Club
The Change Maker's Club has had a busy semester of working together to make a positive impact on our school and community. A few of their many community service projects so far have included cleaning up trash around Mesa, volunteering at the Douglas County Task Force, creating the Git Up for Kindness Challenge (and dance!) for the month of November, and organizing the 12 Days of Giving here at Mesa. What started as an idea of a single passionate 7th grader has quickly grown to over 15 members and will hopefully make a positive impact on hundreds of community members this year.
Congratulations to our Mesa Students and Mr. Linville for Putting on an Amazing Production of Sally Cotter
Learning from our Veterans and Recognizing our Veterans
Patriotic Celebration
Mesa's Performing Arts Department in partnership with the Mesa Individuals and Societies Department were proud to recognize our Veterans with an evening of music and recognition. Performances included music from the Choir, the Advanced Band, and the Advanced Orchestra, as well as a combined piece performed by all three groups. This concert also featured a special guest performance by "Stellar Brass" from the United States Air Force Academy Bands. Through the Patriotic Celebration we have also partnered with TREA. The mission of TREA: The Enlisted Association is to enhance the quality of life for uniformed services enlisted personnel, their families and survivors. They were present to provide information on what the community can do to help those in need. This was a wonderful event!
