REFLECTIONS FROM YOUR PTSA
A LOOK BACK:
- We hope everyone has been enjoying the first month of school. Our administrators have said that the transition has been going smoothly on all grade levels and we hope the same is true at home.
LOOKING AHEAD:
- We spent a lot of time in the past several months discussing the budget that is needed to best serve our students, schools & community. With this end in mind, we have decided that we will no longer be selling the Save Around coupon books. Our treasurer, Leslie Mast, spent countless hours working with those familiar with the true goals and needs of our PTSA as we grow and adapt to changing times. While the coupon books were our largest fund-raiser, we decided we could best carry out our mission with a much smaller operational budget and therefore, we do not need such a large (and time consuming) fund-raiser. Our revised 2017-18 budget was presented at the June 2017 public meeting and was approved unanimously. It can be viewed here. We are looking forward to focusing our efforts on events to link together our students and community & provide financial assistance where it is needed most.
- We are working on continuing a strong digital presence this year using online membership enrollment, eNewsletters, Sign-Up Genius, Twitter and Facebook. Follow us @CanandaiguaPTSA and please share our information with your friends!
- SAVE THE DATE! New this year, we are hosting a Spooktacular Fun Night for our 5th Graders on Friday, 10/20. Details below.

Community Reading Partnership
Help spread literacy in our community! A Volunteer Bookshelf Supervisor is needed by the Community Reading Partnership to oversee “Guardian” volunteers who stock 15 to 20 active Little Red Bookshelves in the Canandaigua area with free books.
This person should be reasonably familiar with children’s books and able to oversee the processing of books donated at locations in Canandaigua schools. The Bookshelf Supervisor sits on the Community Reading Partnership Board which meets monthly at the library.
To express interest, contact CRP President Mary Ferris, c/o Wood Library, 134 North Main St. Canandaigua, NY 14424 or email CRP at communityreadingpart@gmail.com
