Community Service Hours
Chief Points; March, 9th 2021
Absolute Deadline to Submit Hours and Still Walk at Graduation is June 10th, 2021
A Note About Service Hours
To meet graduation requirements at Lakeland, all students are required to accumulate 20 hours of service throughout their 4 years of high school. The student handbook states: "Beginning with the Class of 2017, the Graduation Project is replaced by a Service Requirement. All students must complete twenty (20) hours of community service. Service hours must be signed by a legitimate organization. Family signatures will not be accepted."
Because of restrictions in place over the past year, the service hours requirement for the Class of 2021 has been reduced from 20 hours to 10 hours. Students must still submit proof of their 10 hours of service prior to graduation according to the requirements above. Additionally, the service requirement to become eligible for Lambda Eta Sigma has been reduced from 60 hours to 40 hours, 10 of which must not be associated with student club activities.
We acknowledge that Covid-19 has made attaining service hours a bit of a challenge. Many organizations are still accepting volunteers as long as proper health and safety guidelines are being followed. In addition, with the weather clearing up, there will be many opportunities for students to volunteer outdoors cleaning up parks, fields, etc. Below is a list of things that you could be able to do to earn service hours in the spring. This is not a comprehensive list, but a place to start!
Please remember that any service you complete must be accompanied by a signature from a non-family member. You can access the Community Service Hours Tracking Sheet by clicking on the link below.
Please keep in mind that to be eligible for the Lambda Eta Sigma Graduation Award, you must complete a total of 40 hours of community service in your four high school years.

Little League Cleanup/Coaching
Both the Scott and Mayfield Little League's are planning to start cleaning up their fields. Activities include cleaning concession stands, raking fields, cleaning up garbage, and getting the facility ready for baseball activities to begin.
Scott Township
The Scott Little League will be holding their Field Clean Up on March 27th at 11:00 AM. There will be about 2-3 hours of work, with additional opportunities popping up after that. Students can simply show up on the 27th, and speak to Bobby Boyarsky for work and signatures. You can contact him at bboyarsky@lakelandsd.org if you have any questions.
Mayfield
While there is no set clean up date for Mayfield, they are more than willing to take volunteers to help clean fields, concession stands, and facilities. Additionally, they are open to any volunteers who would like to help with instruction of baseball activities. For more information, contact Mike Hollow at jermynbaseball@yahoo.com.
