Revised Standards for Math and ELA
The State Board of Education has approved revisions to Ohio’s Learning Standards for Mathematics and English Language Arts proposed by the Ohio Department of Education based on recommendations of educators statewide. In many cases, the changes reflect instruction already taking place in Ohio’s classrooms. Clarifications in the revised standards will guide districts in reviewing their existing local curricula, instructional plans and resources to see what modifications, but not replacements, they might want to make. Learn more here.
Building principals together with the Curriculum Department are working on some PD starting this summer to assist teachers with the transition to the revised standards.
Coming Soon to B-C-S Schools..........
Thanks to the initiative of Ms. Mackenzie Warren, art teacher at R.C. Waters, and with the hard work of the Oak Harbor FFA, R.C. Waters will soon be home to its very own "tiny library" to encourage reading for everyone. The tiny library will have a home somewhere in the front yard of the school.
Thanks also to the initiative of Mr. Adam Painter, he will be bringing a new computer science/code course to Oak Harbor High School in the 2017-18 school year! Mr. Painter was selected to participate in Battelle Education's Professional Learning Program for CS Principles, in partnership with Code.org! Adam will be attending a week long professional development training in July! We look forward to this new curricular offering next year. Thank you for all of your efforts Mr. Painter!
