Elie Wiesel

Bio

Elie WIesel Was born in Sighet, Transylvania Present day Romania.He had 3 sisters, a mother and a father, only his two eldest sisters and his father survived.. He Published over 60 Books of fiction and non-fiction.He has also been the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Boston University since 1976.

After The War

After being liberated in 1945 Elie spent some time in french orphanage and in 1948 he commenced to study in Paris at the Sorbonne and that same year he began his journalistic work for the French newspaper L'arche.In 1954 he decides to write about his experience during the Holocaust.In 1969 he married Marion Rose.1972 his son was born and in 1978 Elie Wiesel was Chairman of the Presidents commission on the Holocaust,by president Jimmy Carter .In 1985 he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Acheivement and in 1986 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and he created the Elie Wiesel Foundation to speak against injustice, indifference and intolerance .
