Holly Academy News & Views
March 13, 2020
Oh. My. Goodness. What a roller coaster ride it has been this week! On Monday I would never have guessed that by Friday we would be closed for three weeks! While this is a very stressful time for all of us I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of our Husky community. So many of you have reached out to express your support of our efforts. It is so gratifying to belong to a school community that rallies together in times of "crisis". We are literally planning hour by hour, so we will let you know updates through Skyward emails. Please bear with us as we navigate through the uncertainty.
"When you face difficult times, know that challenges are not sent to destroy you; they're sent to promote, increase, and strengthen you." We'll be very strong after this!
I wish all of you a healthy and restful three week break. Please stay tuned.....
Power of the pack!
Did You Know...
Fun Facts About the Sixth Grade Team:
1. Mrs. Conley was a competitive cheerleader all four years in high school. Her senior year she came home from the state championship competition with a broken foot, but not from cheering - she jumped in a pool the wrong way! After that, she was voted "Class Clutz" her senior year!
2. Miss Klimaszewski played the flute throughout middle school, high school, and even college!
3. Mr. Craven received a four year athletic scholarship to run cross country and track at Lake Superior State University. His fastest times were: 1 mile - 4:08, 2 mile 9:08, 5K 15:48, and 10k 32:11!
To continue learning experiences for your Husky over our extended break, we are providing paper and pencil packets and online learning through Google Classroom and other virtual learning sites beginning Tuesday morning at 8:00am (a few teachers provided packets today). If your child is a Y5-2nd grade student you can pick up packets in the lobby vestibule. They will be clearly marked on the tables. If your student is in 3rd-8th grade, most of their work will be through Google Classroom (unless you have notified us that you do not have internet access); however, some middle school math work will be in bins labeled by teacher. The packets need to be returned on the first day back after break. Online assignments will be submitted through Google Classroom.
If your child has missing work that they have at home, you may bring it to school and drop it in the missing work box in the vestibule until 3:00pm on Monday. No late assignments will be accepted after that time. Please do not email teachers for copies of missing assignments, as they are busy preparing for the next two weeks.
