1st Six Weeks Survey
The first six weeks has has come and gone and I don't know about you, but it seemed to have just flown by. I know that what you do is incredibly challenging, but I have faith in everyone of you. One of the things I want to do is to monitor and adjust what I can do to help you do your job better, so as I mentioned the other day I've created a survey monkey to help me know how I can better serve you.
I encourage you to be honest and open with me. It is anonymous unless you provide indentifying information such as your grade level or what you teach.
I really do want to do everything I can to support you and in order to do that I need your feedback. Thank you!

Lions Quest
This weeks Lions Quest lesson will need to be taught on Thursday instead of Monday.
Our friends from Lions Quest will be visiting our campus Thursday and I failed to tell them we changed the day we are teaching it. Thanks for being flexible.

October 5th 8th period CM and ISS
On October 5th during 8th period only CM will be in Computer lab 118 and ISS will move to the large conference room.
Literacy for all!
As I said in last weeks newsletter, research shows us time and again that increased literacy across the board will increase student achievement, which is why it is part of our instructional focus this year. Friday, we unveiled a Literacy Plan for our campus that provided specific directions and a time frame for integrating literacy into your classroom.
I truly do believe this is an important part of our work in improving student achievement and I appreciate your willingness to embrace this plan. Please let us know if you have any questions.

504 and ARD Paperwork
I have had some concerns regarding the time frame to return 504 and ARD paperwork. The general rule of thumb is that you have 5 school days to return paperwork to the respective 504 or SPED representative. That being said, there may be time when certain situations arise in which we may need the paperwork back quicker than the 5 days you will be asked to be flexible and return it sooner.
Please be thorough in completing the documents and return them in the time allotted.
*I also want to remind everyone that we are legally bound to provide any and all accommodations or modifications on a student's 504 or IEP. It is also very important that we document how we are providing the accommodations and modifications. If its not documented then it didn't happen.
Thanks for your support!

Scheduling Events
When you have events coming up that require the use of specific parts of the building, such as the cafeteria, gyms, or classrooms, please follow these steps:
- Check the master calendar. Mrs. Mobley has shared this with everyone so we can all see the major events coming up.
- Get approval from the principal.
- Make sure to schedule it with Mrs. Mobley so everyone can see it on the calendar.
- Double check the calendar to make sure you can see it.
Lesson Plans
The end of the 1st six weeks is rapidly approaching and I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the expectation regarding lesson plans.
- Lesson plans should be in Eduphoria no later than the beginning of school every Monday.
- Lesson plans should follow the template that is in your Willkie Way Binder based on the ICLE model.
- The lessons and activities in your classroom should reflect your lesson plans.
- Each content area/grade level should be planning together to create your upcoming lessons.
Please keep in mind that this correlates to the Planning Domain and the Professional Practices and Responsibilities Domain in TTESS.
Athletics
Both Volleyball and Football seasons are well underway. Remember we have a home game for both sports just about every week. Volleyball plays here at Willkie and Football home games are at CTHS. I know the students love it when you come out to support them!
Web Sites
Please make sure your website is up to date. Parents really rely on your website for information about your classes. I really would like to see your sites be as comprehensive as possible. Take some time and look at what others are doing both in your content area an out. Explore other middle school's faculty sites as well for ideas. If you need help, please ask.
Shout outs!
If you have any shout outs please email them to me with "Shout Outs" in the subject line.
