From the PFC Co-Presidents
Hi Thunderbird Families,
It was great to see many of you at the auction last weekend. What a great evening to channel your inner hero or villain for a great cause!
Many thanks to our auction committee and volunteers for all the hours they spent soliciting, planning, decorating and hosting a fun night! An extra special thank you goes out to Solvig Raethke-Doeppner for her tireless work as Auction Chair.
It's not too late to support the Fund-A-Need or buy a slot at a pay-to-play party. Check out the Auction site for ideas.
Shauna and Shanyn

Sustainability Team Notes...
The Kindergarten students of Room 4 participated in an assembly by Alameda County's Stop Waste, a local public agency helping businesses, residents and schools waste less, recycle more and use water, energy and other resources efficiently.
During the presentation, students conducted an analysis of a garbage bag from our school's lunch room before it made its way to the landfill. What the students discovered is that over half of the contents could have been composted or recycled instead of sent to the landfill!
The students realized just how far we have to go with our waste-reduction efforts at Thornhill. They are planning a school-wide assembly in April to share more information with the rest of the students, including the four "R's" chant to help us remember to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot (compost)!

A Delicious and Easy Way to Earn $$ for Thornhill
Starting this week, we're running a fundraiser through Good Eggs, the online grocery market in the Bay Area bringing absurdly fresh groceries to your door. Some of the parents at our school already use Good Eggs and swear by it.
In March and April, anytime our school community shops on Good Eggs, they will donate 10 percent back to Thornhill PFC! All you need to do to enroll is:
2. Enter the code tbird and click “Join fundraiser”
3. Shop and 10 percent goes back to the school! After that first order, you do not need to enter the code again and our school will continue to receive 10 percent back on your orders placed in March and April.
Enroll in the fundraiser by March 15th and you will be entered to win a week of free Good Eggs dinners!

First Day Of School--Mark Your Calendar
You bet, we are. OUSD has set the first day of the 2018-2019 school year for August 13. Yes, that's more than five months away, but that doesn't mean it's not too early to start preparing for that day when summer breaks end and school begins...

Dates To Remember...
If you've gotten this far but still need a reminder of what's coming up on the Thornhill calendar, well...Here are some dates to keep in mind. Remember, you can always get information by visiting the calendar page of the school website.
