Husky Happenings- Family Edition

September 10, 2021

Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary

Good Afternoon Husky Families,

The school year at Alpha Hart Lewis is off to a great start! I personally want to thank each and everyone of you for being patient with us as our systems adjust to meet the needs of our scholars. I would also like to thank you for sharing your amazing scholars with us!

As we begin to move into the school year, I want to remind families the more your scholar can read at home, the more proficient reader they become in the classroom. If you are in need of books for home, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I hope that this school year continues to grow into an amazing time full of engaged learning, connection, and community.

Sincerely,

Brian Rehg, Principal

Kelly Isenogle, Assistant Principal

CPS Quarantine Procedures

Coronavirus Isolation and Quarantine Protocols

There is a difference between isolation and quarantine. Isolation If you have tested positive for coronavirus, you must isolate for 10 days. For more information about this, please see the Columbia/Boone County Health Department website.

Quarantine

Quarantine is NOT required for individuals who have tested positive within the last 3 months and have completed their isolation period. Quarantine is NOT required for fully vaccinated individuals who have no symptoms. You are considered fully vaccinated if:

● It has been 2 weeks since your second dose in a 2-dose series, of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or

● It has been 2 weeks since your single-dose vaccine, of the Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine

Quarantine is NOT required for individuals who consistently and correctly wear a mask, are 3 feet or more from a positive individual for less than 15 minutes, cumulative time, within a 24-hour period and have no symptoms.

Quarantine IS required for individuals who are less than 3 feet from a positive individual for more than 15 minutes, cumulative time, within a 24-hour period, with a mask.

Created June 29, 2021 Updated September 3, 2021 Quarantine IS required for individuals who are less than 6 feet from a positive individual for more than 15 minutes, cumulative time, within a 24-hour period, without a mask.

The district will continue with a 10-day quarantine if an individual is exposed to the virus or a 7-day quarantine if the individual obtains a negative PCR test (available through local health providers) between days 5 and 7 and shows no symptoms. Both the 10-day and the 7-day quarantine protocols also require an individual to wear a mask through day 14 (even outdoors and PE, students must also sit 6ft away from others during lunch).

The negative PCR test must be submitted to the school nurse prior to returning to school.
