Week 3 in First Grade
September 8 - September 11
2 weeks down...
The adjustment of going back to school and getting up early is showing. Students are crashing in exhaustion towards the end of the day. You can help by ensuring they are going to bed at a reasonable hour (8:00 pm or earlier is the recommendation for this age); they eat a nutritious breakfast; and read each and everyday!
Next week will be a short week. We hope you are able to enjoy the extended weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday!
Binders!
- Your child's weekly homework
- The current week's spelling words
- Their word family word sort
- Unit High frequency words
- Black folder
- Weekly leveled reader (starting this week)
- Letter formation page
The binders and their readers (books) are expected to travel between school and home everyday. Please take some time each night to go through the items with your child. Student success in first grade has been attributed to the home/school connected established with the binders.
Homework
Your student should be able to complete all the tasks in 30 minutes. We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and you are not always able to complete a job or two. Your child has until Friday to complete the listed tasks. Time is set aside on Fridays for students to catch-up on unfinished work. That is also a time for those who have completed everything to do something special.
If you have any questions about the nightly/weekly homework, please contact your child's teacher.
