Panther Pause
22 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
9.14.18
Panthers,
It is hard to believe that we are now through four weeks of school. Before we know it, we will be calling names at graduation! But, don't worry, senior parents, we are not going to wish that time away.
There are a lot of great things happening at CHHS these days. I had the privilege this week to make my way into some classrooms, and the dialogue that our teachers and students were having with one another left me walking away impressed with the deep thoughts of our students and how well they were able to articulate their thoughts. It is amazing to witness the growth of learning happening at CHHS, and I look forward to hearing more conversations like this throughout the year. On Monday night, we will provide a great opportunity for you to see a glimpse into our classrooms at CHHS Open House. We will have a parent meeting at 5:30pm in the auditorium, and from 6:00-8:00pm you will be able to follow your student's schedule and learn more about what they are doing in classes this year.
This week on the competition fields, I got to see the grit and perseverance of some of our student-athletes. While in today's society we spend so much time focusing on wins and losses, I see extracurricular activities being so much more than that. Last Saturday, our cross country students ran in a literal monsoon, and they ran so well! Then on Tuesday, our volleyball team traveled to play state ranked Birdville, and after dropping game one, they fought back to win the next three games and take the match. Finally, last night, our football team fell behind early to state ranked Trinity and could have very easily given up, but they didn't stop fighting until the very last second of the game. While not all these examples ended up in victories, it was a great example of what it means to be a Panther, and I am incredibly proud of these students. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!!

Student Voice
Define what PRIDE means to you at CHHS.
I believe that PRIDE has a lot of different meanings. At CHHS, in my opinion, pride is a mutual respect. There are standards set for students to respect one another, teachers, and the community. It means to set an example even when it's hard. By meeting and exceeding these expectations, we not only show pride in our incredible school, but in ourselves as well. Pride is the difference between an ordinary student and a CHHS Panther!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: CARLEE MILLER
Carlee Miller is our first 2019 Senior Spotlight Student! Carlee is a four year member of the Premier Pantera Dance Team. As part of theatre, Carlee has been in Once Upon a Mattress, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music and will be in the upcoming 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Carlee is also part of leadership. She loves to sing in the CHHS Panther Chorale and at Compass Christian Church on the Worship Team. Her favorite quote is "Live in such a way that if someone spoke badly about you no one would believe it”. She thinks Project Graduation is a great opportunity for our class to be together and celebrate all the memories and what have accomplished the last four years. We hope all our seniors will join Carlee at the 2019 Project Graduation Celebration.
