Alabama Moon takes place in Alabama's vast wilderness, and some of its cities, like Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Mobile and Union. It mainly is set in the forests though, like Talladega National Forest.

In Alabama Moon, a young boy named Moon, who has lived in the forest with his dad all his life, explores the real world after his dad dies. Moon is told to go to Alaska before his dad dies, but on the way is sent to jail, fights a police officer, lives in the woods with 2 other boys, and mourns the loss of a good friend.

Watt Key is the author of Alabama Moon, which is the first book he has written. He also wrote Dirt Road Home, and Fourmile. Key grew up and lives in Alabama. He enjoys hunting and fishing it's woods, which inspired him to write Alabama Moon. Alabama Moon has received multiple awards.

The author wrote the book because he loves nature and grew up in Alabama. He also survived in the Alabama wilderness himself, which inspired him to write the book.

The lesson to be learned is tat adjusting to the real world isnt easy, and neither is losing family and friends.
