From the Principal's Desk...
Hello Cedar Ridge Families,
My name is Connie Epperson and I will be serving as the Cedar Ridge interim principal for the duration of this school year. I am slowly getting to know students and staff. I look forward to learning more about our school community. Thank you for making me feel welcome. I would like to take this time to tell you a little bit about myself and my background.
Three years ago, I retired from the Fulton School District after serving my entire 30-year career there. I worked at every grade level, PreK through high school. The last seventeen years of my career, I served as the Principal at Bartley Elementary. My husband and I have three grown children, and four grandchildren. Outside of subbing for CPS administrators, I am very busy in my community. I serve on the Fulton School District’s Board of Education, I serve as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children in the foster care system, work at Westminster College as an adjunct professor and the Physical Education program coordinator and serve on the Callaway County YMCA board. I feel passionately about the importance of giving back to the community and working to help shape the future, by working with our children.
I wanted to let you know that the staff of Cedar Ridge have been working tirelessly to provide the best education possible for your children. I have felt welcomed into your school community. The contacts I have had with parents and guardians have been very positive. While this year has been challenging in many respects, to see students and staff working together to make the best of the situation has been encouraging. I know that is a direct reflection of the support families provide outside of school. Thank you for all that you are doing to support your child and our school community. If I have not had the opportunity to meet you yet, I look forward to meeting you in the future.
Kind regards,
Connie Epperson
Winter Weather is HERE!
In the event of a snow day, school will not be in session physically or virtually. Snow days are treated as full closures, no zooms or asynchronous work will be done on these days, and snow days will NOT be made up at the end of this year.
If the decision is made to have a late start, the school day will be delayed by two hours. This means, doors will open at CRE at 10am and dismissal time will be unchanged (still 3:20). Everything is delayed by 2 hours, including bussing. So, for example, if your child's bus typically picks them up at 7:20, they would be picked up at 9:20 instead. Breakfast is not served on late start days.
Appropriate clothing will be necessary as your child travels to and from school each day. Unless the windchill is 10 or below, students will be outside for recess. In order to participate, they must have a coat. Gloves and hats are also encouraged on particularly chilly days. Please also encourage your child to keep track of their items and check the lost and found periodically if they have misplaced items.

The Masked Reader Virtual Family Event!
Our second annual Masked Reader event is taking place on Thursday, January 13 from 7:00-7:45pm. This event is fully virtual and will take place via Zoom. We are hoping that holding the event at 7 will allow families time to get home from work, have dinner, get ready for bed and then enjoy some stories before bed.
Each of our anonymous readers will share one of their favorite winter stories with students. Students will be given clues about each reader. Students will utilize the chat feature on Zoom to take their guess at who is behind the mask. After their book, each reader will unmask to reveal their true identity!
Mark your calendars and join in on the fun!
A reminder about this event, and the link to join the Zoom event, will be sent out prior to the event!
