Words of Wisdom

The rays of happiness, like those of light, are colorless when unbroken.

~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Adversity is a part of life ‐ it is inevitable. There will always be challenges to overcome, but it's not all bad news. Adversity strengthens us to take action when challenges arise and to persevere in times of darkness, allowing us to be a source of light for those around us.

Often adversity can awaken us to what is true and important in our lives. It's a time of reevaluation and appreciation for what we have or for what we may have lost. Although the storm may leave you feeling broken, the sun will rise again.

CPA is Not Streaming Athletic Competitions

We wanted to make you aware of a scam that is happening on social media. Groups NOT associated with CPA claim they are streaming our athletic events, and they collect credit card information to exploit fans. The basketball season is underway at CPA, but we are not livestreaming any games or competitions. Please do not give your credit card information to these groups. We hope you can join us in person for our athletic competitions. Thank you!

Give Kids a Smile!

Minnesota dental professionals are concerned about the growing number of low-income children who face barriers to dental care. That’s why thousands of dental professionals come together on the first Friday and Saturday of February to provide free dental care to children in need.

This special event is called β€œGive Kids a Smile” and is coordinated by the Minnesota Dental Association. The dental care will be available in community-based clinics and private practices in many locations throughout Minnesota.

All patients must have appointments in advance and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents may call United Way 211 (just dial 2- 1-1) or 800-543-7709. Operators will have a list of participating dental offices and will be able to direct people to a location in their area. Parents will then call the dental office to schedule an appointment.

An online list is also available at www.mndental.org.

ACCESS Testing Update

It is time for the yearly assessment for English Language Development. The ACCESS test is required by the state and helps our teachers know how to best support student learning.

It will be given to students within ELD programming in February and March. Students will be assessed in language development skills in 4 domains: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

The ELD teachers are working hard to support your students as they demonstrate their growth!

Winter Clothing

Winter is here! Please make sure your child comes to school each day with appropriate winter gear so they are warm and dry at the bus stop, on the way to and from school, and during recess. If your child is in need of a warm jacket, hat, gloves/mittens, boots, or snowpants, the social work team can help you find resources.
