Technology Night

There was a great turnout at last night's Technology Night. For those of you who couldn't make it, ask your child to open his/her Google Drive account at home. You can then see how we use technology in Hoseyland.

This week we read non-fiction and fiction stories about the ivory-billed woodpecker. We focused on author's craft, synthesizing information from both texts, and using critical thinking to evaluate the texts. We also made text-to-self, text-to-world and text-to-text connections with work posted in the First Grade hall.

Next week we will perform a historical fiction reader's theater play about the Hindenburg disaster.

In writing we are wrapping up revisions on our Cheeze-its Incident piece.

Next week we will start a personal narrative about showing PRIDE (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence).

This week we have used different methods for dividing. Ask your child to share. These are very different from the way you were probably taught.

Next week we will do differentiated center work. In other words, your child will have instruction or remediation on various skill he or she needs.

Spring Break Around the Corner

Spring Break will start next Friday at 3:20. If your child is leaving early for Break, please let me know.
