Instructional Focus:
Remember, this was just the start of the conversation regarding a topic that's still pretty new in terms of research, but it has a chance to change how we look at our students, as well as, stresses the importance of being intentional in our relationships with students.
The resource that Ellen sent out on Friday is another great resource. Here are a couple more that I used to help put together Friday's presentation:
- Video- This video is pretty heavy, but does a fantastic job of explaining how the brain is effected by childhood trauma.
- Quick ACE Quiz- This is a model of what the initial quiz given by the weight loss management clinic looked like. This can even provide interesting insight for you as you reflect on your life.
- Center for Disease Control-Provides some statistics and historical perspective on a couple of the larger studies done on ACEs.
Additionally, I plan on sharing Friday's presentation with the classified staff at our meeting when we get back from Spring Break.

Celebration Time!!!
Holly Katke Update....
Behind the Vietnam Memorial Wall, there will be a garden, and they voted to name it "Holly's Garden" in honor of her sacrifice. This warmed my heart and I wanted to ensure I shared it with all of you.
Math Training This Week.....
They will be showing us how to use pictures and bar models to solve word problems. This might be our most important training yet, as this tends to be where our students struggle the most. Monica is even going to show us how to use numberless word problems to teach students to better focus in on the problem solving process.
The schedule will be as follows:
- 1st and 2nd grade will meet on Monday in Janice's room from 8:00-11:30.
- 3rd and 4th grade will meet on Monday in Janice's room from 12:30-4:00.
- 5th and 6th grade will meet on Wednesday in Janice's room from 8:00-11:30.
Huge Congratulations....
Jaxon Stark and Mason Brogan took first place in the district for their Earth and Planetary Science project.
As you see them in the hallway, please congratulate them on their hard work!
