The "Perry Story" continues

Although Perry is not out of quarantine yet, he was able to stretch his legs a little in the round pen today. He was quite mesmerized by the distant cattle, which Mrs. Mays is not sure he’s ever seen before. He will officially be off quarantine in three days and then will officially enter “school” at Locust Trace!

"NoNamé" Update

NoNamé has made progress by leaps and bounds in the past two weeks, literally! The students started with the basics of ground driving last week which included getting him used to wearing a surcingle, having lines on both sides of his body, and being comfortable with the lines touching his hind quarters and legs. We have also refreshed his memory on how to wear a bridle and carry a bit. The long lines were then attached to his halter (while he wore a bridle underneath and although he was nervous at first (and quite jumpy) he has settled into ground driving quite well. He still has a handler up by his head for reassurance purposes but hasn’t needed their direct guidance recently. If he continues to progress in this manner he will hopefully graduate to ground driving with just the driver by next week. We’re very proud of him and his progress!
