Week of 9/12-9/16
What we did this week ...
We have completed a full week of ECLC, and the students are doing great! They are beginning to learn the routines of the class, and are becoming more independent.
I read the books Mouse Shapes and Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See? The students created a book about the animals in Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you See? They also created a craft based upon the story Mouse Shapes.

Other things we did this week
In phonics, I introduced Echo, the owl puppet, (picture below) to the students. I explained that Echo would help us learn our letters and sounds throughout the school year. Here is information about Fundations.
I introduced the letter T, to the students, and the letter story, which is T, top, /t/. I have included a link to the storybots video, at the bottom of the newsletter. I show these short videos, for each new letter that is introduced.
I introduced the handwriting lines to the students. These include the skyline, plane line, grass line, and the worm line. The students used their handwriting journals, to trace their finger over the letter t. Here is information about handwriting in Fundations.
Have a wonderful weekend.
