Valentine's Day Party
Valentines Boxes – Our Valentine’s Day party will be on Friday, February 10th at 1:45. A link will be sent out next week to preregister. To keep things organized, we ask that students bring in a shoe box, brown bag, or a grocery sack (double bagged in case suckers make holes!) for collecting their Valentine goodies.
Optional Valentine’s Day activity- We LOVE this 5th grade activity because we have some really creative kids!! Students can join the optional Valentine’s Box class competition and let those creative juices flow. In this competition, students will bring in a “box” that competes in one or more of the following categories:
- Best Use of Household Products
- Best Use of Valentine’s Day Theme
- Most Creative
- Best Overall
Students in the class will vote on their favorite box using a ballot. There will be prizes for one winner of each category. Students may begin bringing boxes in on Wednesday, February 8 (NOT BEFORE) or keep their box a secret until the 10th! The ideas are endless. May the best boxes win!

February guidance lessons will be about respecting differences. We must teach our students that different does not equal bad. For example, another student may bring a lunch to school that looks very different from your lunch. If you respect differences you could ask about it and be open to learning. Sometimes students are quick to say “What is that?...it looks weird.”
We will celebrate Friendship Week on February 6-10. On Wednesday of that week the students will participate in a Mix It Up lunch where they will sit with new students they may have never met. This will be a great time to practice respecting differences and making new friends.
