What's with these Power Hours? I don't have an hour in the middle of the day!
Well, that's what I thought as well, but this week I participated in my first Power Hour webinar.
The topic was Prop S and the format was very user friendly. I wasn't able to join right at the start time of noon but that was not a problem. I just clicked the link and was added to the conversation. Members of the central office staff were around the table and on hand to answer any questions around Prop S. I stayed on the webinar for about 20 minutes or so.
Participants typed in their questions and Ginger Cayce, the moderator, presented them to the "panel." At one point, two of the panelists had to step out due to another meeting, and I noticed the number of participants move up and down as others watching like me stepped away. So, it is very "low maintenance," and user friendly.
Long story short, super easy and super responsive to questions. You could really log on, type in your question, wait for it to be presented and answered and then ....log off!
There are two more Power Hours scheduled:

- March 10
- April 1

What About the Traffic A New School Will Generate?
Many have raised questions about traffic on Dougherty Ferry and Lindemann as a result of a new elementary school being built. A traffic study by Crawford, Murphy and Tilly has been completed and is currently being reviewed by the City of Kirkwood. (A traffic study provides recommendations on traffic flow, signal placement, lane requirements, and develops a plan for a safe school zone along Dougherty Ferry to reduce speed limits at certain times).
The full document is on the KSD site at this link: https://www.kirkwoodschools.org/Page/9119
It's 78 pages long ~ but don't let that shut you down!
Here's the scoop, Sisul-style:
- Pages 1-17 are an easy read (ie lots of maps, diagrams, pictures) explaining pages 19-78 which are alllll of the data collected. So, if you want the narrative on the main objectives of the study, with corresponding diagrams, stick to the first 17 pages. If pages of charts and graphs are your jam, enjoy pages 19-78.
- Page 18 is the overall conclusions, which include final thoughts on the main traffic impact. If you are short on time, skip to this page.
Specific questions about the traffic study and don't want to read the report??
Let me know and I will find your answer!
