A Moon of Uranus

Some things to know

In this presentation I will be talking about the moon Ariel. Ariel is one of 27 moons of Uranus. Ariel is 118,700 miles from Uranus, or 191,200 kilometers. Ariel is also made of mostly Ice and rock. It was also founded by William Lassell in 1986.

As we all know Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun, and manly made of gases besides the rock and iron core. Uranus orbits around the sun every 84 years, and the days there only last about 17 hours and 14 minutes. Uranus is very very cold, the temperatures there measure around -197 degrees Celsius. Uranus was also founded by William Herschel in 1781.

Interesting facts

Ariel is one of the biggest moons that orbit Uranus. On July 26, 2006 Ariel casted a shadow on to of Uranus clouds. Ariel's orbit is almost equal with Uranus. Voyager 2 is the only that has flown by Uranus. Ariel is the 12th moon of Uranus and is one of the biggest. Even though ariel is made partially out of ice, it can still get very warm at times.

Ariel orbiting Uranus

As I said before Ariel is mostly made of ice and rock. Ariel also has many valleys and craters. Some people believe that some of Ariel's ice melted, and that water created the valleys. Out of the 27 moons Ariel is the fourth biggest moon.

Voyager 2

Controlled by the founder of Ariel, William Lassell. The only spacecraft that has flown by Uranus and that was in 1986. Voyager 2 flew around Uranus at the distance of around 81,500 km, and got very close up pictures of the rings.
