Dear Central Road Families:

I had originally crafted this newsletter as an exciting "Welcome Back" message as the start of a new year is right around the corner. As I am now sending this message, I am grieving the loss of six members of our D15 community-three of them being precious members of our Central Road family. My heart aches for our students, staff, and CR community.


Mrs. Green and I can assure you that the well-being and safety of our staff and students is our highest priority and urge you to reach out if there is anything we can do to support you and your child(ren). On Monday, you received information about opportunities for your child to speak with clinician staff in a private setting- in-person or virtual. In addition, a Caregiver Support Training will be available and held tonight, August 2nd, from 6:00-7:00 pm at Central Road School for both staff and parents. This training will be held in person with a virtual attendance option also available. Access the virtual attendance session through this link. Children are welcome to attend with their parents.

Important Upcoming Information

The Central Road Elementary staff has been working very hard to prepare for another upcoming school year. Both August 15th and 16th are dedicated to professional development for our teaching staff. We will be focused on preparing our students for academic, social-emotional, and functional preparedness. We are committed to providing the best possible educational experience for your child(ren). We will be welcoming all of our students back with open arms!


Teacher/classroom assignments will be viewable by parents/guardians in Infinite Campus

on/after August 4th (in the afternoon). We are working hard on finalizing registrations and placing students appropriately into classrooms as needed. If you have not completed the registration process, please kindly contact our school office to finalize the process as soon as possible.


The Central Road teachers would like to invite all of our students to Meet the Teacher Day on Tuesday, August 16th from 1:30-2:30pm. We kindly ask students to bring their school supplies to Meet the Teacher. If you and your child are not able to attend our scheduled Meet the Teacher Day, your child may bring his/her supplies on their first day of school which is a 1/2 day of learning this year. School supply lists have been linked below for your review.


The First Day of School for students in Grades 1-6 will be a 1/2 day from 9:15-12:15 pm on Wedneday, August 17th. Lunch will not be served on this day. All kindergarten students will begin on Thursday, August 18th at 9:15 am. Drop off will begin at 9:00am each day.

Kindergarten Teddy Bear Play Date

Thursday, August 11th 3:00-4:00 pm


Calling all incoming kindergarten students! Please join us for a teddy bear playdate at Central Road's playground on Thursday, August 11th from 3:00-4:00pm. Feel free to bring your favorite teddy bear with you while you meet your new classmates. All incoming KDG students are welcome to attend. Let's hope for nice weather as a rain date will not be scheduled at this time. Nut-free popsicles will be provided. We look forward to meeting our newest Central Road wolf pups!

Meet the Teacher Opportunity

We will host Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, August 16th from 1:30-2:30 pm. During this time, students may meet their new teacher and bring their supplies to school. Any school related forms may be turned in on or before Meet the Teacher as well. We look forward to greeting our students!

Breakfast and Lunch Information

Both breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students at Central Road School who would like to eat the food served each day. Students at CR are offered FREE breakfast and lunch daily starting the first day of school as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, funded by the federal government. Students may bring a lunch from home if they prefer to do so.


What does this mean for families attending the CEP school like Central Road?

Again, all enrolled students will receive a free breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household. Your child(ren) will be able to participate without having to pay a fee, but we ask that you still complete the Fee Waiver form here (Spanish form) to determine if your family qualifies for other financial assistance such as school fees, athletic, and activity fee waivers. Again, completing the application is still necessary for other programs and assists with funding for educational programs in District 15.

A Note from the Central Road Health Office

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far! With the start of the new school year only a few weeks away, it is time to make sure your child’s health requirements are up to date.

  • All students new to District 15 will require a current physical exam with all immunizations up to date (Certificate of Child Health Examination), and students new to the State of Illinois will require an eye examination. This form is available in the school office, online, and here: State of Illinois Eye Examination Report.

  • All students should provide proof of immunizations by October 15, 2022 or the student will be excluded from school. The list of current immunizations can be found on the district website here: IDPH Health Requirements.

  • Students with health conditions such as asthma, epilepsy/seizures, severe allergies, and diabetes require the emergency action plan completed by their physician along with the Medication Administration Forms, signed by the physician and parent, for any medications required at school. Please bring these forms and medications on or before the first day of school. These forms are available in the school office, online, and here.

  • Asthma Action Plan

  • Seizure Action Plan

  • Allergy Emergency Action Plan

  • Medication Administration Form

  • Diabetic Medical Management Plans must be brought in along with medication and supplies prior to or on the first day of school in order for the student to attend. If your child requires any of these health documents and you have not done so already, please kindly make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.
