The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

Message from the Principal πŸ’›

It was so great to see your beautiful faces on campus this week! I hope you all have finally adjusted to the early morning wake-ups and getting back to learning! We have only 10 school days remaining until the next Progress Report, so there are some questions I'd like to ask you:

  • Have you checked your grades on Jupiter recently?
  • How many missing assignments do you have?
  • Which of your classes do you need the most support with?
  • Are you going to attend Tutoring this week?
  • Are you going to attend Saturday Academy this Saturday?

The answers to those questions will determine your next steps. I encourage you to buckle down and do what it takes to steer your ship in the right direction. Reach out to your teachers, counselors, or admin if you are not sure how!

Shout out to our JV and Varsity Basketball teams and our Softball team on their victories this past Saturday!! πŸ€πŸ€—πŸ₯Ž

I'm excited for Music Monday tomorrow...it has been a few weeks! 🎢 Is your Advisory going to win?

Let's make it a great week, Vikings!!

Take care,

Ms. Scott

JupiterEd Login Challenge πŸ’»

Viking Parents, did you know that logging into Jupiter gives you access to each of your child's classes, the ability to message their teachers, read behavior messages and see missing assignments?? According to Jupiter, only 51% of our parents have logged into their JupiterEd accounts so far this year. As Progress Report #2 nears, it is crucial that parents are able to login and see that information. Don't know your login? Reach out to any of your child's teachers, counselor, or admin and we can get it to you!

We are hosting a challenge this week for our Viking Parents. The Advisory class with the most parents logged into JupiterEd will win a pizza party!! πŸ• So parents, let's get logged in and stay connected to your child's academic progress!

Thank you, Boba 4 Books!! πŸ“š

Right before we left for Fall Break, a student club from Westview High School in Poway, Boba 4 Books, brought us 3 boxes of books and supplies for our library. They started a club to help raise funds to donate books and school supplies to schools and encourage education for all. We were proud recipients and were so grateful for their generosity! Thank you!! πŸ’›

Magakaisa Filipino American Conference - Saturday, Oct. 28th

SUHSD’s 21st Annual Magkaisa Filipino American Student and Parent Conference is coming up on Saturday, October 28th, as we celebrate Filipino American History Month. This year's focus is careers in the art industry and incorporating how Filipino American traditions influence this career industry. Career workshop speakers are excited to share their successful journeys in their world of work. Additional workshop topics include college preparation, scholarships, financial aid, community involvement and Filipino American history and contributions. Finally, student led workshops will address topics that lift student voices.

We are excited to announce that Kenneth Barlis, a renowned fashion designer for Project Runway, is this year's keynote speaker. Also, Assemblymember David Alvarez will be in attendance to address us during the general session. The highlight, our very own students throughout the Sweetwater Union High School District, are representing the various fiestas of the Philippines through performances and a fiesta parade.

Please join us. We look forward to seeing you on October 28, 2023 at Otay Ranch High School! Click HERE to register!!
