Grizzly Gazette
Riverglen Newsletter- January 8, 2021
From the Desk of the Principal
Happy New Year!
I hope that you all had a nice winter break and that all our Grizzlies are ready to start the second half of our school year. The second semester of the 2020/2021 school year begins on Monday.
Remember, the entire first week (January 11-15) ALL students are virtual. Then, the following week, we will be back in our hybrid schedule where students attend in-person two days a week based on their Gold/Silver team assignments. I have the next couple of weeks broken down below if you need any clarification. The bell schedules for both Virtual Mondays and Tuesday-Fridays are the same as before the break and are available on the Riverglen website @ https://riverglen.boiseschools.org/ under the "Our School" tab right at the top.
See you soon,
Mrs. Watts

Parents...we need your help!
If you could take a moment to make sure your students understand the expectations in the graphic below we would be really grateful. The days the students are learning virtually it is absolutely critical that the kids not only log-in but that they fully participate. Teachers will be going over their classroom expectations for this, but I am hoping that if we can work together and "tag-team" we will have a better chance of getting through to our grizzlies. We are really going to tighten up on this expectation school-wide.
I know this is not news to you and seems like a "no-brainer", but engagement is much higher when teachers and students can actually see each other. It is critical in providing check-ins for understanding. In addition, it can limit off-task behavior and full participation increases student learning and retention of content. Teachers can't tell if students (while logged in to class) are actually doing other things like playing on their phone, watching tv, or falling asleep if they can't see them. :o)
If your child cannot have their camera on, please contact your child's teachers. Teachers will work with you and your child to help provide alternatives if necessary.
Thank you!!
