Happy Sunday! We are very excited to have Mix It Up Day during lunch time for 3rd-5th graders this Wednesday from 11:30-12:30pm and we need your help! Thank you to our Mason Parent Diversity Committee for coming up with this great idea as well!

Feel free to click the link below to have a different Mason educator for each chapter read to you and your child. Thanks for continuing to make reading a priority at home. 15-30 minutes of reading per day can really help your child socially, emotionally and academically.

Hallway Behavior- Doing the right thing in the hallway when no one is looking... Walking, keeping our hands to ourselves, using quiet voices, etc...


January Character Word of the Month:


Empathy - Trying to understand what others are feeling and looking at things from their perspective.

One Book One School - The Chocolate Touch!

Our One Book One School event has officially begun and we're so excited! Each family now has a copy of The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling, along with a reading schedule and more details! This week families are asked to read chapters 7-9. Each week we will have Tuesday Trivia with winners enjoying a milk and cookie treat on Fridays!


We would love to have pictures of you reading The Chocolate Touch together. Please email photos to macgila@gpschools.org. Pictures will be displayed on our main floor bulletin board.

Grosse Pointe North's Style Spectacular

THERE IS STILL TIME TO SIGN-UP FOR The Grosse Pointe North student council for the class of 2021 is hosting a little girls night on February 7. Parents For Unity In Diversity

Parents of GPPSS Students! You are invited to meet with us and participate in an ongoing conversation about topics related to diversity and helping our schools continue to value diversity! The Great Kindness Challenge

Grosse Pointe Public Schools have come together again this year to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge, January 28-February 1, 2019. This is a positive, proactive bullying prevention initiative that helps millions of students during the last week of January every year. Please see the attached letter for details.

Volunteers Needed!

Interested in breaking up your day with a little volunteer time at Mason? Here's the scoop:



  • Lunchtime volunteer - 11:55-12:55 p.m. on Mondays, 11:30-12:30 Tuesday-Friday. One day a week? Two...
  • Morning office support - 8:25-8:45 a.m. - Collect cell phones, walk young students arriving late down our kindergarten hallway, miscellaneous jobs.
