187th EDITION: March 19, 2021

From the Desk of Mr. Brad Williams

High school is a time of experiences that contribute to the foundation of our youth as they engage in their pathway toward adulthood. At Marian Central, we are honored to contribute to that experience through education, mentorship, scholarship, athletics, and enrichment of the Catholic faith. Underscoring these experiences is the memories, friendships, relationships, and rites of passage associated with one’s time in high school.

This class of 2020-2021 has made meaningful sacrifices in terms of their high school experience. In this consideration, we are tremendously excited and grateful to welcome all the seniors back in the building on April 6th. The past twelve months have been challenging for many people and in different ways. As a Catholic institution, our heart and compassion are of course shared with everyone. As an educational institution, we have specific connections with and attention towards our students and families. In that regard, we recognize the specific effects on the class of 2020-2021. We hope this upcoming return to school will be an experience that our students can look forward to with excitement and optimism.

Of course, we want all the students back in the building as soon as possible. We are working on plans to implement that transition as soon as the conditions permit. In the meantime, we hope the staff, faculty, administration, students and parents in the Marian community will join us in a feeling of celebration as we approach full, daily, in-school attendance of our senior class.

The spring weather is melting the snow and bringing out the sun. While the time change can lead to a sense of disequilibrium, I must admit it is nice to have that extra hour of sunlight in the evenings. It has been a joy to watch our student-athletes engage in competition these past few weeks and I am excited for the upcoming extra-curricular events. Cities and states around the country are modifying their mitigations in a way that feels positive. Because of all this, I am optimistic. The optimism centers on the direction of our school and our community which leads me to look forward with a strong sense of positivity. I hope that our Marian community feels the same way and we can all rally around a sense of hopefulness moving forward.
