There is still time to register for the Oakland PAC Parent Event on March 14th: "Trauma and Bullying" hosted by Oakland Schools. This is a unique learning opportunity to serve the needs of parents with child(ren) with an IEP.
Clarkston PAC Meeting: March 18th, 6:00 PM at the CCS Administration Building located at 6389 Clarkston Road. Join Kathy Christopher, Director of Student Support Services and your PAC representatives for a discussion on current Special Education topics and updates from Oakland Schools. RSVP in the event section.
Please join us for Sparkle Awards on March 25th at 6:00 PM at Clarkston Junior High School PAC. This is our annual awards and recognition ceremony for all of those individuals and groups in our community that support our students with IEPs.
March 30th provides another opportunity to attend a workshop on Alternatives to Guardianship presented by Dohn Hoyle from The Arc Michigan. Check out the flyer in the Events section. This workshop offers critical information to those parents and caregivers with a child with disabilities transitioning to adulthood - ideal to attend BEFORE turning 18.

UPCOMING EVENTS IN THE METRO AREA
Michigan Family Summit & Resource Fair - March 17th and 18th
The Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council is hosting a Michigan Family Summit and Resource Fair, "Planning for a Good Life for your Family Member," March 17-18, 2020 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Several workshops are being offered including: Charting the Course to a Good Life, Supported Decision Making, IEP Planning, Sexuality Education for individuals with developmental disabilities, Benefits Planning, Future Planning, and Assistive Technology.
Overnight accommodations, travel and childcare reimbursement are available for families of children with I/DD and individuals with I/DD. Registration Deadline is March 2nd.

Autism Friendly Movies & Fun
WHO: Any child/teen/adult with special challenges that would make a regular movie experience challenging and of course their friends and family members.
WHAT: "Autism Friendly" Movies at Emagine Theater on the 1st and 3rd Saturday's of the month. Sensory friendly (Lights up a bit, Sound down a bit) with the ability to get up, move & make noise. Families with allergies can bring their own snacks.
WHEN: 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:30 am
WHERE: Select Emagine Theaters
WHY: Going to the movies is something every person should be able to do.
