A Few Words On...
As the leader of St. Stanislaus Kostka Academy, I would just like to share a few words and thoughts on several topics and happenings in our school community.
Congratulations - 8th Grade Confirmation
I want to congratulate our entire 8th grade class who went through the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Wednesday! It is truly a blessing when so many of our students affirm that they want to continue to show witness to our faith and the works of Jesus Christ by allowing the Holy Spirit into their hearts as young adults. Our students put in much study and consideration throughout the school year, had several meetings with Fr. Anthony, and attended a retreat in preparation for this sacrament. I want to thank Mr. Villasenor for all of his work in leading our young women and men through this process. We hope to see a large number of our 7th grade class go through the same work and joy next school year!
Mother/Son Dance - HELP NEEDED
This Saturday (May 21) is the Mother/Son Dance and your help is needed for event set-up, operation, and clean-up. Please click on this Sign-Up Genius link to see where you can help out. Our Father/Daughter Dance was such a success that we hope this event can be as well. Since mothers were key in making the Father/Daughter Dance happen, I am asking all fathers to consider helping.
Ticket purchase forms for the dance went home with students last week. In case you did not receive it, you can click on this link for a downloadable version. Please return these forms and money to school by Wednesday, May 18. If you have specific questions about the event, please contact Jen Edwards at jedwards@ststanschicago.org as soon as possible.
Chicago Dogs "Homerun for Education" Field Trip
I want to thank our students, teachers, and chaperones who all attended our K-8 field trip to the Chicago Dogs baseball game this past Tuesday. It was nice to see our students enjoy themselves in a different environment and it seems like they all had a good time. I was very happy with how our students conducted themselves at the game and on the buses. They represented our school and community well with their good behavior and positive attitude.
Special thanks goes to our teachers and chaperones for making this field trip successful. Many of our students were going on a field trip for the first time or haven't been on a trip in almost 2 years. As such there were many new procedures to learn and things to be aware of while on the trip. Everyone supervising our students did a wonderful job preparing them and watching out for them during the game.
Gentle Reminders
Mass Day Uniforms
Each Friday, students are expected to be in their Mass uniform attire. This past Friday, there were a number of students (particularly boys) who were not in uniform. It is the responsibility of parents to make sure that students have the proper attire when coming to school, especially when it comes to our younger students. We have tried to make the dress code easier to follow and no longer require a monogrammed dress/button-up shirt. Students can wear a normal white dress/button-up which can be purchased anywhere. We understand that sometimes clothes may not get cleaned or that there can be extenuating circumstances. In those cases, please be sure to contact the office and classroom teacher to let us know ahead of time.
These are the general Mass Day guidelines all K-8 students are expected to follow:
- Boys - White button-up shirt, black dress pants, red or black tie, and black shoes
- Girls (K-4) - White blouse, plaid jumper, and dress shoes
- Girls (5-8) - White blouse, pleated skirt, hip-length vest (optional), red or navy tie, and dress shoes
Tuition & Financial Aid for 2022-23
If you are in need of financial assistance for the 2022-23 school year and have not received a Tax-Credit Scholarship from either the Big Shoulders Fund or Empower Illinois, please make sure that you have filled out the financial aid application on FACTS. We will be reaching out to families to have discussions on potential assistance for next school year in the next few weeks. You must be sure to have completed the proper forms on FACTS before that time in order for financial aid packages to be completed. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or run into any issues.
