Spanish for Effective Communication: Educator Series

January 28-March 3, 2016

Join co-workers and other educators to learn the vocabulary you need to effectively communicate with Hispanic students and their families. You will learn simple ways to give and receive information necessary on a daily basis. The course is an interactive conversational approach to basic communication. NASA Rockets 2 Racecars PD Academy STEM Education Curriculum for Teachers

Get your students revved up about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with the NASA Rockets to Racecars program. Learn about the similarities between cars on the track and planes in the air by exploring Newton’s Law of motion and other STEM topics with NASA’s Rockets 2 Racecars STEM learning experiences. NASA education specialists will deliver virtual professional development designed for the topics, content areas, and age levels indicated below.

A collaboration between NASA and the Kentucky Speedway, the 4 sessions presented work together as a curriculum storyline, culminating with a July 9, 2016 race at the Kentucky Speedway. NASA will be onsite at the track providing many interactive Rockets 2 Racecars activities designed to teach students and teachers several STEM concepts. Teachers who attend all 4 PD Academy sessions and who integrate Rockets 2 Racecars in their own classroom NGSS curriculum or who implement a summer camp utilizing the curriculum will receive the following:

1. Free July 9 Kentucky Speedway admissions for all students in the teachers’ classrooms
2. 1 Free admission for each teacher, and
3. 1 ½ price admission for a teacher’s guest.
Each session will include hands-on STEM content delivered virtually by the NASA education specialists, time for Q&A, and time to work with educators on NGSS concepts and classroom implementation facilitated by an onsite educator.
