LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Weekly Memo 1/2/2017
MISSION
We will lead all students to be productive citizens.
VISION
Lake Worth High School provides a customized learning experience that values individual growth and achievement.
GOALS
1. During the 2016-2017 school year, LWHS will increase the amount of time students are reading and/or writing in all core classes every day and in all elective courses at least once per week by reviewing walk-through data, student assessments, and student artifacts in PLCs.
2. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 70% of staff will rate school climate and culture questions as favorable (agree and strongly agree) on the annual staff survey.
3. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 20% of students will have participated in non-traditional modes of learning that include blended and virtual coursework by evaluating end-of-year course data.
Happy New Year
I hope you had some good time with family and an opportunity for some rest over the holiday. I look forward to our spring semester as we continue progress on our campus goals and begin making decisions concerning our master schedule and staffing for next year. Please visit with your department chairs or come by to share any suggestions you might have.
INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK
- Monday is a work day. Feel free to plan with your colleagues as needed and catch up as we finish the Fall semester. Definitely a jeans day!
- The Leadership Team will meet at our normal time, 7:45 am, on Wednesday.
- Please don't forget the "Shout Out" board where you can share the great things about your colleagues and what's happening here at LWHS!
- Please continue to post on Twitter and Facebook. Snap a quick picture of something great and post!
- Please continue to look a the calendar each week. I will only include items in this memo that I think are unique, that you need pay special attention to, or are for some reason not on the calendar.
- The attendance committee currently working on a plan to reach out to parents and students with attendance concerns. That will begin this week.
Leadership Meeting Notes and Reminders
- Student Surveys will be administered before the semester is over. The survey should take no more than about 10 to 15 minutes and should be given to all your classes. We will send more details very soon. We will use your suggestions as well as those provided by our Student Advisory to create questions during our Leadership meeting this week.
- We have given numerous Saturday schools for students with chronic tardies. Please remember to count students tardy. If they miss more than 5 minutes of a class, count them absent. We will begin random tardy sweeps this week.
- Please do not allow students out of class unless it is an emergency. If a student with a trust pass needs out of class, that does not mean you have to let them go if they ask- it is always your discretion.
- Lesson plans and grades are due on Monday each week. Love you all, but we will be having one-on-one conversations in an effort to help those having difficulty. If you have a question about these expectations please ask.
