ELAR/Social Studies
- In reading we will be starting argumentative text when we return from Spring Break. We will be focusing on recognizing the claim the author makes and differences between fact and opinion.
- In social studies we will be finishing up our study on good citizens in the community.
- Please have your child read over Spring Break! That will be the best thing for them because when we return, we will be benchmarking for STAAR!
Whitney Lamming
4TH GRADE
4th Grade Math--We have been working so hard on Geometry and it paid off! Every one of these students has made growth this unit and I couldn't be happier. We have lots of testing coming up in preparation for the STAAR. After Spring Break, we will have MAP testing and shortly after that we will have an Interim Test. All of these things will help us gauge where we need to spend some concentrated time during March and April.
4th Grade Science--We are finishing up our unit on the Earth's rotation and orbit as well as the phases of the moon. Friday, we will use Oreo cookies to demonstrate our mastery of the moon phases. It should be a fun time! 🙂
5th Grade Science--We have been learning about the different "spheres" and how they interact. This week, we have begun discussing ecosystems and biomes and how many things must work together for our world to run smoothly--even one small change can disrupt an entire ecosystem. After we learn a little more about ecosystems, we will dig into food webs.
Thank you for sharing your children (and enjoy a little time off during Spring Break)
Mrs. Brown 🙂
This week we've been working on argumentative texts. We have identified the claim, audience, argument, and learned how to identify if evidence is credible or not.
Reminders...
- Please continue making sure your child is reading over Spring Break!
- Almost every student made their AR goal this 9 weeks... I want to make sure everyone makes it for the final round! 🙂
- Have a happy and safe Spring Break!!
Jenna Wesley

Recordatorios...

5TH GRADE
-We have started working on Data Analysis. We are learning to read and create different kinds of graphs. We will still be working on this chapter when we come back from Spring Break.
-We hope you and your family can have a safe and relaxing Spring Break.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Gamez
ELAR:
Wow! We have finished another quarter! Only one more to go, and your kiddos will be middle schoolers! I am very proud of the work these students have done over the last three quarters and I know we are going to finish out the year strong! In reading, we are working on a new unit which we will continue working on after Spring Break! We are working on learning all about persuasive and argumentative texts. We are analyzing these types of texts for an author's claim and their evidence to support the claim.
Social Studies:
In our time for Social Studies, we are finishing up our lessons over Reconstruction after the Civil War. When we get back from Spring Break, we will be looking at everything leading up to the 20th century and the first World War.
I really cannot believe we've made it through another quarter! I hope you all have a fabulous and safe Spring Break!
Thank you!
Mrs. Rasco
ELAR: ¡Guau! ¡Hemos terminado otro trimestre!
