9/11 Rememberence
Twenty years later, the September 11th attacks on the United States and the lives lost in New York City, Northern Virginia, and Pennsylvania, still evoke painful memories for those that remember. Our students only know about 9/11 through history lessons we teach them at school and at home; they do not know a world before September 11, 2001. Every parent/guardian can recall where they were and what they were doing at this moment in our history 20 years ago.
The following resources can be used to talk to your children about the tragedies of 9/11. We encourage students to make today a day of service to someone, as we remember those whose lives were tragically lost in the service of others.
Student Emergency Forms-PLEASE UPDATE
We have quite a few students that do not have updated information yet in PowerSchool. It is essential that we have up-to-date information in case of an emergency. Please review the following information to access your child's emergency forms.
CCPS uses an online form (no paper!) to verify or update student information through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. The process typically takes less than five minutes per student and allows families to verify that all of the student's data is correct and provide updates for any important data that has changed. This process replaces the old paper form sent home in previous years. Parents, please check your email for this information from:
Please note: If the student’s address has changed, proof of residence will be required. This may be uploaded through PowerSchool or provided directly to the school.
HOCO 2021
As soon as we make a decision about the dance we will let everyone know. I should know specifics this week! Thank you for your patience.

Vision and hearing screenings are scheduled to take place beginning 9/16/21. All new entrants and 9th graders will be screened as required by Maryland mandate. If your child has had a vision and/or hearing exam outside of school within the prior 12 months, and you do not wish your child to be re-screened, please provide the school nurse with written verification of that visit prior to the school screening dates.
Dress Code- REPOST
Please review the following rules with your child and keep them in mind when purchasing school clothes:
-pants need to sit at the natural waistline
-no midriff showing, no cropped tops
-shorts, dresses, skirts need to be at or past the fingertips when arms are rested to the side, and therefore large/excessive rips/holes in jeans can not be above the fingertips
All of the above rules are supported/addressed in the CCPS dress code policy for middle and high school. We appreciate your support.

Senior Spotlight Class of 2022
Week of September 13
Hello Fabulous Seniors and Families! I am the graduation coordinator and will be posting updates here and on the bulletin board near my office in the back hallway. I will also email seniors and families and post information to our school social media pages. Graduation is currently scheduled for June 2 at 6pm. Jostens will be here sometime in October to help you order your cap and gown and any other senior supplies you want. I will also help with this and would like to have all orders placed before December 31. After the first of the year, the cap and gown package price increases.
Families, please be sure your email information is up to date in Powerschool. This is the primary way I will contact you with important information.
Please know that dates and times of events related to graduation may change due to changing COVID conditions and restrictions. I will keep you as up to date as possible. It is a good idea not to plan any trips around the first week of June just in case a change is made.
You can always email me at france.bernadette@ccpsstaff.org with any questions or concerns. I will do my best to have an answer for you! I look forward to an exciting year as we prepare for your graduation!
