GEIST GAZETTE - Welcome Back!!!
September 4, 2020
Message from the Principal-
This week we have sent you emails with our virtual tour and the arrival and dismissal procedures. In this newsletter we've included a video about our bus procedures. We will do all we can to provide a safe environment for your child! Please help us by checking daily on any symptoms your child has. If they show Covid symptoms, please do not send them to school. We appreciate your cooperation and efforts to protect all students and staff.
We will welcome your children with open arms into school next week. Please know the halls will be lined with staff to assist your children! Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Remember YOU have Homework for this weekend. Please confirm on school dismissal manager your child's dismissal plan for next week. Have an amazing and restful weekend.
We are excited to see the children!

NWEA Testing September 14-25
Dear GES Families,
The Fall NWEA Testing window is scheduled to be administered Monday, September 14th through Friday, September 25th on Red and Blue Days. Virtual only students may test with their teacher and classroom during this time.
Please email your child's teacher to notify them of your desire for your child to participate with the class on Red and Blue day Fall NWEA testing. The classroom teacher will then communicate the specific testing schedule information for their classroom.
If you would like to receive additional information regarding alternative NWEA testing times during the scheduled testing window or opt out of Fall NWEA testing, please complete the NWEA Fall Testing Window Form by Wednesday, September 9th.
The week of September 8-11th additional information will be emailed to families who have requested alternative in-person group NWEA testing options.

Students will access these zooms through their classroom canvas page under the Virtual Enrichment button. Kindergarten, First, and Second grade enrichment will take place at 1:00 and 1:30. Third and Fourth grade enrichment will take place at 2:00 and 2:30.
RELATED ARTS NEWS
Music class will be taking place both indoors and outdoors this year. I suggest that you put sunscreen on your student and maybe even have them wear a hat and/or sunglasses to music class when we are outdoors only. A water bottle would be good to bring outdoors as well. As it gets chilly in the Fall, your student might want a jacket or sweatshirt. I will try to put on the Canvas Calendar when we will be outside so you can plan ahead. Please note, things might change last minute due to weather.
3rd & 4th grade virtual choir will be starting September 9th. More information will be emailed to all 3rd & 4th grade families later this week.

Students will need to bring their school supplies (art box) to class. I would suggest using the plastic bag that contained the art supplies from pick up. This would be a great way to carry supplies to and from art class. Students should bring their own pencils, scissors, glue sticks, and coloring tools. If you do not have an extra set of these materials at home, your student will need to take them home for their virtual days.

Students will need the app Kahoot installed on their iPad. Also, they will need to bring their art box/bag supplies to class.

FOCUS & FLEXIBILITY (F&F)
Students will need to wear gym shoes and bring a towel for class.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE)
Students will need to wear gym shoes and may bring their water bottle to class.
