Lesson 5-1
There is no model for this lesson. The essential question for this lesson is: "How can making a model help you solve a problem?" The goal is for students to read a word problem, and take it step by step. They are to begin with what they know, and then look at what is being asked. By thinking through a problem and making a model, the students will be able to determine if they've arrived at a reasonable answer - one of the Standards for Mathematical Practices.
