D25's NEW Parent Academy
Parent Academy is a partnership between parents and District 25, in which parents are invited to join our community of learners. The goal of Parent Academy is to provide learning opportunities for parents to better understand ways to support their students’ academic success and personal well-being.
We welcome parents and families to engage in various activities and events to explore topics related to mental health, well-being, equity and inclusion, and academics. Scroll this page for archived newsletters, further resources, or to submit an idea/topic for the next Parent Academy newsletter.

Congratulations, Business Department!
Big time congratulations to our Department of Business & its leader, Stacey Mallek, for their 30th straight year receiving the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by ASBO International!
In order to be considered for this award, school districts must put together an extensive financial report that goes above and beyond the standards of many business and government entities are required to meet.

Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at our schools and guide improvement. If you have a child at more than one school, please fill the survey out for each school your children attends.

Open Door With Superintendent Dr. Lori Bein
Once a month, Dr. Bein hosts an Open Door for a chance to discuss ideas, concerns, or get answers to questions with parents and community members.

Coffee With the Board
Join the Board of Education for some coffee and some discussion. Come ask your questions and give your feedback directly to our Board of Education members.
When: Saturday March 11, 2023, 8:00 - 10:00 am.
Where: Greenbrier Elementary School (2330 North Verde Drive, Arlington Heights, IL 60004)
Up to two Board members will attend each Coffee with the Board event.
Greek-American Heritage Month | March
Greek-American Heritage month, also known as Hellenic Heritage Month, is observed in March of each year. March 25 is celebrated as Greece’s National Independence Day.
This is a time to honor Greek heritage, including Greek history, culture, accomplishments, and experiences. With a vast cultural legacy and history, it is also a time to highlight Greek-American contributions to American history.
Irish-American Heritage Month | March
Irish–American Heritage Month is celebrated by proclamation of the President and Congress in the United States to honor the achievements and contributions of Irish immigrants and their descendants living in the United States. It was first celebrated in 1991.
Women's History Month | March
Women's History Month is a month to commemorate and encourage the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.
Nowruz | March 20
The word Nowruz means new day; it's the day when winter changes into spring in the northern hemisphere, and it feels like a new beginning.
Nowruz marks the first day of spring and is celebrated as the beginning of the new year by people around the world.
Ramadan | March 22 - April 21
Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer for Muslims. During Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink from dawn to sunset, they break their daily fasts by sharing meals with family and friends.
The end of Ramadan is celebrated with a three-day festival known as Eid al-Fitr. (You can exchange Ramadan greetings by saying “Ramadan Kareem,” which translates into “Have a generous Ramadan,” or “Ramadan Mubarak,” which roughly translates into “Happy Ramadan.” )
D214 Community Education | Screening of Till
Come see Till, the critically acclaimed movie of the true story of Chicago’s Emmett Till and his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley. This event is free.

NSSEO Parent Event on Anxiety | Virtual via Zoom
Join NSSEO for a parent education event on anxiety in the home and evidence based ways to address it. This will be a brief overview of anxiety disorders along with their presentations followed by a larger discussion of methods and interventions to address these areas in the home environment. There will be a brief time for Q&A with two mental health therapists working in the behavioral hospital setting.

District 25's Battle of the Books
Our Timberwolves and our Cardinals joined forces for the 2022-2023 Battle of the Books Competition at South Middle School!
Each team worked together to solve the questions by brainstorming quietly amongst themselves. After three rounds of questions, Team Overbooked took home their medals and got to sign the traveling book trophy!

After a three year hiatus, STEAM night made a comeback at Olive! The theme for this year? STEAM in the community!
Our Olive owls & community members got to see live animals, bots, and so much more!

Anyone who wishes to make a public comment can do so, in-person, at our Board of Education meetings. The Board hosts two public comment opportunities on their agenda: 1) at the beginning of the meeting, prior to any agenda items, 2) at the end of the meeting after the agenda items have been discussed/presented.
At the April 21, 2022 Board of Education meeting, the Board decided to no longer offer the submission of public comment via a Google form. The Board can be reached outside of Board Meeting hours by emailing boardfeedback@sd25.org.
