Christmas Spirit! By: Raley Nienstedt
What happened to the Christmas Spirit? Kids are so involved with technology, it’s like no one believes in how Christmas works anymore.
I personally believe that kids need to get ready for the Christmas Spirit. Christmas movies really help because they talk about what Christmas really is, and the joy of spending time with your family. Some of my favorite Christmas movies are Snowbride, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman. But to just watch anything go to the Hallmark Channel.
One reason why I think that kids don’t believe is because some parents think that it’s ridiculous or childish. And so they tell their kids that its not real. But some ways to get into the Christmas spirit is, to turn on the Christmas music. Also to watch movies like I said earlier. Also you can show the Christmas spirit by decorating your house. You could hang up lights outside the house, or put a tree inside the house with ornaments and lights.
But sharing the Christmas Spirit helps not just you but other people too, so just by planning a Christmas party and inviting family and friends to enjoy the music and hot chocolate and the time spending with them spreads the Christmas cheer. Also you could cook some cookies and take them to your neighbors and tell them Merry Christmas and sing them carols just to give them a smile. Also Christmas isn’t just about family and friends it’s about the life of jesus and when he was born. So go to church and learn about jesus, to me that’s a really good way to show you believe and care about Christmas.
So there are a lot of good reasons why it’s good to get in the Christmas Spirit. And i hope that you will try to do these things. And remember Santa is watching.

The NFR By: Tori Heyman
The NFR is a big rodeo with thousands and thousands of people coming to watch brave men and women compete for titles and money.
One of the biggest events at the NFR is bull riding when a rider gets on a large bull and attempts to stay on for 8 seconds while the bull is trying to buck them off. There was a bull rider named Lane Frost who was a World Champion Bull Rider where he won his title at the NFR.
Another big event at the NFR is Team Roping where the first person to come out of the shoot is the “header” that ropes the front of the steer, usually the horns. Once the steer is caught by one of the three legal head catches, the header must dally and use his horse to turn the steer to the left. The second person is the "heeler," who ropes the steer by its hind feet after the "header" has turned the steer. Another event is called Bronc Riding which is basically bull riding but with a horse. You still have to stay on for 8 seconds while the horse tries to buck you off. Those are some of the events at the NFR, but theres plenty more watch.
A big event that gathers thousands of people to come to the NFR is Cowboy Christmas. It’s a big gift show where people can buy things and then just go look around at different items. It’s called “Cowboy Christmas” because its during the week before Christmas and the last week of the NFR. Cowboy Christmas is 300,000 square feet or more of floor hosting over 400 vendors from across the United States and Canada showcase their unique products which include: customized jewelry, western wear, boots and spurs, furniture, original art, handmade crafts and pottery, and providing the best source for the NFR and PRCA merchandise. It’s open to the public, anybody can come. It is located at Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall 3150 Paradise Road Las Vegas, NV 89109. It’s just to provide money for the people.
The NFR is big with history, it was established in 1958. The first ever rodeo was held in Dallas, Texas in 1959. In 1964 Oklahoma City hosted it. Eventually it moved to Las Vegas in 1984 and has been there ever since. The creator of the NFR is Sam Boyd. He has been a sponsor ever since. The round about price for a average ticket is 250.00 and thats depending on where you are going to be seated. Each year of the NFR over 140,000 people attend the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas and more than 13 million viewers tuned in.
