Volume 2 ~ Issue 10 ~ Week of September 17, 2023

The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

Message from the Principal πŸ’›

It is the LAST week of classes before Fall Break! It's hard to believe we are already in Week 10 and at the end of this week, we will be halfway done with our first semester! At the midway point, I like to have our students and parents reflect on a few things:

Parents/Guardians:

  1. How have you supported your child's academic goals so far this semester?
  2. What is one thing you can do to help them achieve more in one or more of their classes?
  3. Have you checked in with your child and their social-emotional wellbeing so far this school year?
  4. In what ways can you support your child's positive mental health as we finish out the semester?

Students:

  1. Have you put in sufficient effort to achieve your academic goals in your classes?
  2. What are 2 things you can do to improve your grades one letter grade in each class?
  3. What ways have you attempted to connect with our school programs and activities this semester?
  4. What is one goal you want to achieve before the end of the semester?

Please take a few minutes to write down some answers to these questions above. At the end of the semester, you can look back to see if you accomplished what you set out to do. Goal setting is a perfect way to organize thoughts and monitor progress. Utilize Fall Break to catch up on things you put aside, rest, and reset. πŸ’›

Congrats to our Fall Viking Athletes!! πŸ₯ŽπŸ€βšΎ

Our Viking athletes had a great start to the weekend pulling in 3 victories of the 4 games we played on Saturday!

  • Softball had a strong game all around and beat Southwest Middle by a score of 11-4!
  • Varsity Basketball was on fire and beat Chula Vista Middle by a score of 45-21!
  • JV Basketball was holding it down the entire game and beat Southwest Middle, 27-11!

After a really intense and long set of innings, our baseball team came up just a tad short losing 5-6 to Hilltop Middle. They still held their heads up high and we are so proud of their efforts against a strong team!

Due to Fall Break, we will have no games for the next 3 weekends and will resume play on October 14th. Keep practicing Vikings, so you can build those skills and come back from break even stronger!!
