Founders Weekly

Shout out!
So many great things happened this week! I want to recognize a few:
- Mr. Glenn for being able to remain calm and compassionate even when students lash out!
- Ms. Placido for using Craft Club to improve our community!
- Ms. Rameaka for handling all the chaos on Friday and doing it well!
Students Behavioral and Academic Concerns
I also read this blog on dealing with traumatized kids which served as a good reminder of things we try not to do.
Keep in mind that with a few students our goal is to get them in the door and make them feel safe. Academics will follow. Be cautious in how you approach or anxiety-filled kids until we have a relationship and know them better. They are battling alot to just get in the door.

Breaks and Plans
Karen and I are working on specific students plans to get out to teachers as soon as possible.
No student should be taking more than a 10 minute break unless in crisis and working with a staff member elsewhere. Please call the office if a student has been gone for longer and we will track them down.

Novice Principal Induction Network Update
As part of NPIN, I will be assembling a team to receive facilitative leadership training with the Center of Leadership for Educational Equity (CLEE). This will involve a two-day training at CLEE and 2 afternoons. We will establish a problem of practice surrounding an academic equity gap and dig into the data to start facilitating change. Let me know if you're interested, or I will be reaching out.
