The Beacon
In Year 1
In Year 2
In Year 2 the children are making connections between themselves and the wider world through the use of Google Earth. They will take virtual tours of various communities around the world and will have a go at building their own! They will also be investigating how communities can change over time by looking into the past of the places they will be visiting next month.
In Year 3
In Year 3 the children are familiarising themselves with the Beacon. They will be introduced to their personal UOI pages and develop the skills to edit and add content onto it. They also understand that it is their responsibility and choice to decide how they want their page to look like and what can be uploaded in order to show their learning in their UOI. In the next week fews, the children will hopefully be gaining a better understanding of digital citizenship by studying the impact of their actions on their digital footprint.
In Year 4
Year 4 children will review the skills of searching effectively online and learn to present information on Google drawing. They will also be introduced to Soundation studio, where they will collect and mix audio clips to create their own unique track in order to show their learning in their Unit of Inquiry.
In Year 5
In Year 5 the children are using online video editing software Wevideo to organize images, videos and sound in a dynamic way. They will be creating a journey of their learning through their Unit of Inquiry on Migration. The children are reminded to keep checking the shared “Y5 wevideo” folder for new media to upload onto their Wevideo media gallery from home.
In Year 6
In Year 6 the children will be applying their skills on Blendspace and Lucidchart in preparation for building their own Google site. They will be learning how to create, customize, and manage web pages within a Google site before working collaboratively with each other to develop a site on a past civilisation.
