In partnership with Pennsylvania Intermediate Units (PAIU), the Office of Safe Schools, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Appalachia IU 8 invites schools to participate in the School Climate Leadership Initiative (SCLI), an effort aimed at increasing the capacity of PA educators to lead school climate improvement efforts. The network is designed to identify and address school climate improvement needs through Act 44 of 2018, Comprehensive Planning and as a complement to current initiatives already being implemented in schools. At the heart of the SCLI model is an emphasis on building learning communities focused on sustaining school climate improvement through stakeholder engagement and shared leadership.

Participating schools will work with IU 8's School Climate Regional Coordinator (SCRC), certified by the National School Climate Center, through training and technical assistance, data collection and analysis, and strategic planning related to school climate improvement.
