Hamilton Renovations
In 2014, CFISD voters approved a $1.2 billion bond referendum. The bond focus was on six primary components: safety & security; student growth; transportation; technology and campus/support facilities and improvement. Renovations for Hamilton Elementary were included in the bond. Please follow the link for detailed information regarding the bond: https://www.cfisd.net/en/bond/
Items that have already been completed, include:
- Security: Additional badge readers to secondary entries; upgrade of existing cameras; reinforced/bullet resistant glass in front entry; and camera/buzzer system at front entry
- Technology: replacement of desktop computers with Chromebooks; classroom Hovercams; classroom Active Panel (interactive board) and Lightspeed sound system
Renovation schedule:
- March 12-16 (Spring Break): Replacing and relocating the kitchen grease interceptor
- April 30: Begin addition for the kitchen and kitchen renovation
The kitchen will be closed beginning April 30th through the end of the year so that the interior kitchen work can begin. The kitchen will continue to provide lunches to students following a modified lunch menu. The menu will be sent out the first of April.
Summer projects will include:
- Replacing the metal roof
- Replace parts of the HVAC system, including the chillers, air handing units and chilled water pumps
- Install a fire sprinkler system
- Replace the ceiling
- Replace light fixtures with LED lights
- Replace all of the case work (classroom cabinets and all built in cabinets throughout the building)
- Renovate student restrooms
- Replace carpet and tile throughout the building
- Provide additional security cameras
- Install lockdown buttons throughout campus
During the month of May, staff will be packing up everything in the building, including student records, textbooks, technology, library books, science equipment, PE equipment, and so on so that contractors can complete the renovations before school begins in August. Because of this, we will be making some changes to our normal end of year activities and procedures.
No lunch visitors
- May 14-18 due to STAAR testing
- May 28-June 1 for the last week of school
- May 29
- Off-campus location
- Finalized schedule will be sent to parents in April
We can’t wait to show off our renovations when we return in August!

Name That Book
Congratulations to our Name That Book team who participated in the district contest on February 27th. We are so proud of their hard work and positive attitudes! Although they did not bring home a trophy, they (and their parents) touched our hearts by wearing Team Trey shirts to show support for former Lion and Ms. Lucas's son. We hope all who participated this year enjoyed reading some fabulous books. Next year's list will be released soon!
Team members: Cash Bussey, Mackenzie Foltmer, Vedanth Hariharan, Yousuf Hussain, Gavin Moreno, Alison Richard, and Holly Robinson.

Horizons/Gifted and Talented Testing Update
All Gifted and Talented testing was completed on February 14th, and we tested almost 200 children school-wide! Are you Interested in Becoming a Mentor?
We need you! Are you interested in making a difference in a child’s life? The Cy-Fair Mentor program is a cooperative effort of volunteers from buisnesses, faith-based and/or non-profit organizations, the community, and Cy-Fair ISD designed to encourage students (K-12) to finish school and to focus on future education goals and career choices. A committed mentor can be a wonderful role-model by helping a student with his/her academic and social development.
If you are interested in making a commitment to a child here at Hamilton Elementary, you will first need to attend a district training session at the Berry Center, and complete a mentor application. If you would like to get more information, or to sign up for a training session and access the mentor applications, you can log onto the CFISD website at www.cfisd.net/mentor, or contact Leslie Francis in the Community Engagement Department at leslie.francis@cfisd.net or at 281-894-3950.
