Morning Arrival
Morning arrival has been going smoothly. However, a couple of reminders will be helpful:
- Students arriving by car are not permitted in the building until 7:40 a.m. Remember, if you need to drop off your child earlier, you can enroll him or her in the Before Care program.
- Make sure your child is ready to leave your car before you stop. If you need to take some time with him or her, park in the parking lot and walk your child over to the school. No child is permitted to walk across the parking lot on his/her own.
- Remember when children are exiting your car, all should exit on the passenger side for safety reasons.
- As you leave, please proceed to Blue Ribbon Way (exiting on Wilson Mills) only.
- Buses have the right of way. Please allow them down the driveway before your car. Often bus drivers will allow cars to go first, but never count on it!
- Give your child enough time to walk to his/her homeroom. As the weather changes, the car rider line becomes longer and time gets later. Develop the habit of getting here with many minutes to spare!
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as the safety of all of our students is our foremost concern.
Milk Fee
Have you sent in the Milk Fee for your child? The cost of milk for the 2018-2019 school year is $44.50 per child. This is not included in the hot lunch fee. Please send in the milk money, with your oldest child, in an envelope listing your children’s names and room numbers. Students must have a milk card in order to receive milk. Daily cash sales are not permitted. Free and reduced milk application forms are available in the office.
Dress Code Reminders
Be sure to review dress code information on pages 25-27 in the Parent-Student Handbook. Here are some items to note:
- Shoes-Shoe color must be basic black, brown, navy blue, or tan. White is not allowed.
- Polo shirts-In this transitional year, boys may wear polo shirts with or without the logo.
- Shorts-Navy or khaki walking shorts purchased from Schoolbelles are permitted.
Your cooperation in following the dress code as written in the handbook is necessary and appreciated. Any changes to the dress code have been communicated well in advance of their implementation, and the handbook has been posted since August 1. Thank you!
Individual Picture Day
Tuesday, September 11 is picture day at Saint Paschal. Students may wear appropriate dress up clothes in place of their school uniform on this day. If your child has gym on Tuesday, please send all gym wear and shoes for them to change. Please remember to send your completed picture packet along with your child, or purchase your picture packet online. If your student misses picture day, a make-up and re-take day will be held in November.
STEM & Robotics Clubs
These two clubs will be meeting on alternating Mondays after school. Meeting dates are posted on the school calendar.
Registration for STEM Club is open to students in Grades 7 & 8. Students who want to join must complete a request form which has been made available to them. The form includes signatures from the student, a parent, and a teacher. These forms must be turned in to Mrs. Kulick by September 4. Due to limitations, membership is limited to 32 students. Students may belong to both of these clubs if they can attend all the meetings, or they may choose one of the two.
The Robotics Club is open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 but is limited to 24 students. We are hoping to send a few robotics teams to the Diocesan X-STREAM games in April 2019. Interested students must e-mail either Mrs. Kulick (ikulick@saintpaschal.com) or Mrs. McMurdo (jmcmurdo@saintpaschal.com) to request an online form which they need to complete and submit for consideration.
8th & 7th Grade Parent Lunch/Recess Volunteers
Thank you for volunteering! We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer for the month of September for 8th grade or October for 7th grade, each time slot being 11:00-1:00. This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade. Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 8 OR Grade 7
High School Placement Test (HSPT) Prep Class
We are pleased to announce that Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School will host a high school placement preparatory class for interested eighth graders beginning September 4th. A representative of Test Preparation & Tutoring Services will offer four sessions taking place on Tuesdays during September that will help our students prepare for the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT). Students will learn test-taking techniques and strategies to increase their scores on the standardized tests. We are very excited to offer this to our students once again this year as we help them hone their skills for high school. The registration form also includes information about class options on a Saturday for the both the HSPT and ISEE tests. Hard copies of the registration forms were sent home last week and can also be found below. They are due to the office by Friday, August 31st.
