Baccalaureate: A Moment Worth Experiencing
Baccalaureate is a tradition that stems from England in the mid-1400s, where graduates from the prestigious Oxford University gathered to reflect upon their educational journey. While it was originally a religious ceremony, in the United States it has evolved into a non-denominational service where graduates are able to reflect upon their thirteen-year journey in one of their last moments together as a class.
Graduation day itself is a very full day, full of emotions and events, and attended by thousands of family and friends. Because graduation is often a whirlwind which is over before we even realize it has begun, baccalaureate becomes a time where students can more solemnly experience what it means to be a graduate in an uplifting and personalized ceremony. It is truly a moment in their lives that cannot be recreated, and all graduates and their families are encouraged to attend. During this event, the CVHS Choir and Orchestra will perform.
Please join us for Baccalaureate on Sunday, May 19th, at 3:00 pm in the CVHS Auditorium.
If extra space is needed, viewing will be available via live stream in the band room.
Students who plan to participate should be in the mini-gym by 2:30 pm wearing their gown, medallion, cap & tassel.
Students may sit with their friends. Tickets are not required, but seating is limited. Families are encouraged to attend this meaningful event.

Honor Cords for Outstanding Commitment to Community Service
Each year, CVHS Key Club with Gilbert Public Schools recognizes students who have made a commitment to go above and beyond to serve in the community. Students who volunteer 200 or more hours of service throughout their high school career may be recognized at graduation in the program and with an Honor Cord. There are four different award levels:
White (200-399 hours),
Green and White (400-599 hours),
Copper (600-799 hours)
and a Service with Distinction Multi-Colored cord (800+ hours).
Your complete application and required documentation must be RECEIVED by 2:30 pm on Thursday, March 7th, 2019
Because of the financial burden that purchasing these honor cords has placed upon the Key Club Community Service Club, members have determined that it is not sustainable that we continue to do so. Those who would like an honor cord will need to make a payment of $8 to the club by March 29, 2019. The cords will be ordered for you and will arrive in time for you to wear for Baccalaureate and Graduation ceremonies.
