Staff Spotlight -
Carol shares...
I have a teaching background in a variety of settings. I have taught in the traditional classroom setting K-8th grade, in a home schooling charter school where I guided families in their child's education (even home schooled my own children), taught in a K-3 classroom and recently Mercury Academy. I knew at an early age that I wanted to become a teacher and it has been the best decision. It's important to do a job you love and I've found it with teaching.
I am a life-long learner and hope to pass that on to my students. I have taken many classes in how to teach reading and writing ( I currently worked on my Masters in Writing). I began writing a novel during these classes that I am still working on and plan to publish in the future.

Club Corner
Art Club has been studying the popular art of photography. Photography is a form of visual art that can take an artist many places. There are portrait photographers, landscape photographers, food photographers, science and forensic photographers and so much more! This week our artists took photography into their own hands and submitted digital images inspired by the nature photos taken by American artist Art Wolfe. Here is a great nature photo by High School Art Club member Hannah Pichler!

And last but not least..... Your joke of the week
A young female teacher was giving an assignment to her Grade 6 class one day. It was a large assignment so she started writing high up on the chalkboard. Suddenly there was a giggle from one of the boys in the class.
She quickly turned and asked, "What's so funny Pat?"
"Well teacher, I just saw one of your garters."
"Get out of my classroom," she yells, "I don't want to see you for three days."
The teacher turns back to the chalkboard. Realizing she had forgotten to title the assignment; she reaches to the very top of the chalkboard. Suddenly there is an even louder giggle from another male student. She quickly turns and asks, "What's so funny Billy?"
"Well miss, I just saw both of your garters."
Again she yells, "Get out of my classroom!" This time the punishment is more severe, "I don't want to see you for three weeks."
Embarrassed and frustrated, she drops the eraser when she turns around again. So she bends over to pick it up. This time there is an burst of laughter from another male student. She quickly turns to see Little Johnny leaving the classroom.
"Where do you think you are going?" she asks.
"Well teacher, from what I just saw, my school days are over."
