Lyman Elementary
November 2021
A Note From Mr. McPhee
Dear Lyman Parents and Guardians,
I love this time of year with family gatherings, fall colors, pumpkin patches, football games and the approaching winter and ski season.
We had a great “at school” field trip with our October pumpkin patch. All the students were able to go out to our playground pumpkin patch and choose a favorite pumpkin. The parent group was here to hand out treats, cider and cocoa. We had a math estimation station set up to challenge our students’ math thinking. A huge thanks to Kristi Johnson, Shawna Tesarik and the Lyman Parent group for all the work to make this a fun fall event.
Our fall parent and teacher conferences are coming up on November 8th and 9th. These conferences are a great opportunity to get a detailed report of your student’s progress and accomplishments after two months of hard work. I’m proud of the effort towards learning displayed by our students and the thoughtful daily preparation by our teachers and staff.
The Lyman Robotics Club is underway with 28 students involved in this year’s club. The robotics club meets in two small groups every Tuesday and Thursday in our computer lab. This year’s theme is all about transportation. Students are learning how transportation systems work throughout the world. They learn how to code their robots to do16 unique tasks related to transportation. The club applies deep thinking in math, coding and teamwork.
November is a very busy month. Over the next four weeks the school will be closed a total of three days for Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. We will have Veterans Day activities in each class during the week of November 11th. There will not be large school-wide assemblies this year. If you lose track of when an event is occurring, please check the calendar on our website or call for more information.
On behalf of the entire Lyman Elementary staff, we are honored to work with all of your children and help them grow! Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education at Lyman Elementary.
We are a great school because this is a great, supportive community.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
Sincerely,
Scott A. McPhee

This year's conferences are in person. If you do not feel comfortable coming in or are in quarantine/isolation, please email your student's teacher to set up a Zoom conference.
