Golden Lions!
At Lakeview, we know that character is just as important as academics. This week, we had our first chance to celebrate positive character with all of our students at our Golden Lion assembly.
Students can be recognized with a Golden Lion when they show one of the Lakeview expectations of Be safe ~ Be respectful ~ Be engaged or when they show one of the #SMWay character traits of Respect ~ Responsibility ~ Kindness ~ Honesty ~ Perseverance.
When a teacher recognizes a student with a Golden Lion, the student brings it to the office where we take a small Polaroid picture (remember those? ) and then post the award and the picture on the wall by the office. Students love to see their own tickets as well as the tickets of other students.
When our wall gets full, we hold an assembly, and that is what we did this week. Each student who received a Golden Lion is called up in front of the school to receive the award and take it home, along with a small token of appreciation (this time, a McDonald's certificate).
So how many students and awards did we present this week?
153 students received a total of 264 awards (many students received more than one Golden Lion)! We are so proud of our students. We make a really big deal of Golden Lions at school, so if your student received one this week, please celebrate that accomplishment at home as well! Our wall is already starting to accumulate new Golden Lion tickets, so all students have the chance to demonstrate that "Who you are is just as important as what you know."
